Why im not excited about the new booster...

Me and my friend’s PVP daily. I just don’t see us all getting in a boat and heading out on the sea hoping to find somebody to fight. And to be honest it seems boring to (I did think it was funny the dev's were so giddy about it tho LOL).

What im worried about is if I do not buy it, what penalty will I suffer. We all know EA nerfs everybody by making the newest things overpowered. Take Mystics for example, right now they are totally overpowered in both PVM and PVP. I guess they think they have to make whatever’s newest overpowered just to make extra sure people buy it...This has happened time after time after time. And the very worse part about it is they take 6-12 months to address the balance issues. And that’s why you see mass people running the exact same templet two weeks after something comes out. To me this is a epic fail and im sure its why lots of people leave the game...

I hope in the future, they address balance issues and bugs faster, but I know there’s no money in it. And that makes me feel like they are just milking us and don’t really care about the players or the games issues.

Will i buy it? Well, EA/UO history teaches us you wont have a choice if you hope to compete so I guess I will for that reason alone. And to be honest that's why im not excited about it.

Since there are no new skills involved I'm not sure where your imbalance is going to come from.
Balance issues are hard to identify, some are genuine, some are just 'I can't beat that template therefore you must nerf it' cries that are countered by other players attesting that they can beat it just fine. How do they tell the difference between a genuine problem and player incompetence?
Boat battles will probably be arranged rather than accidental meetings, although I could see it adding a new dimension to the crossing to Terra Sanctum.
I believe a lot of people will buy the booster just for the storage increase. I suggest you wait until we actually have something to judge it by other than the promo vid before making your mind up.

Or just adapt. I'm PVPing perfectly fine without the expansion or any imbued items.

If you don't use boats in the future, the changes coming with this expansion will not affect you. There will be no new skills and (if I understood right) no weapons, save those weapons used for sea battles only (i.e. cannons mounted on ships).

I disagree, the OP is right they always make new stuff overpowered so people will go buy the expansion. they did it with AOS, SE, ML and now SA

AoS was an exception. Buying AoS didn't offer the incentive of accessing new content, AoS's terms were buy the expansion or discontinue playing production shard UO.

As far as the OP, it has already been stated by a Dev (can't find source, sorry) that the bugfixes included in the booster will benefit every player, and not just those who pay for the upgrade. However, you won't be able to use the new boats, catch the new fish, use 120 fishing scrolls, etc.

So your "penalties" aren't really penalties, unless of course you count the fact that you will still have to say forward, back, right, left, etc. to move the legacy boats around while people who do upgrade can use the mouse control feature.

In other words, since you are not interested in the new content you will suffer no real penalties and will not be affected.

So if I don't upgrade and my guildmates are using a new boat to get us somewhere... Will I be able to get on the boat?

I'll be honest... I'm not excited about the prospect of spending money on 2 booster packs per year [unless thats been changed since I heard about it], when the devs won't give Siege any development time. I'm just not going to spend the money when we have to beg for dev time and all we end up with is 1 minor tweak every 2-3 years. I've had about enough of the BS.

Yes, you can sail with them. They've said that many times now. You simply cannot use a new boat type yourself to steer.

Ahh... might be my bad then. Perhaps I was thinking that all boats are going to have the new 'easy' way to sail without the tile by tile issue.

I thought they took boats out of UO when they removed 8x8ing. Isn't that what they were there for in the first place? Are they supposed to be releasing a new skill system in the booster?!
