For years (more than I care to count) I've been charged £9.99 per month, per account for my subscription (I'm in England if anyone is interested.)

This month I look at my bank statement and I've been charged £11.65
Ignoring the legal query as to why EA has taken more from my account than authorised WITHOUT announcement, I would like to know what the reason is for account costs to be going up?

Let's face it, UO is an old, old, old game - if anything fees should be going DOWN not UP.

Further to this - I go to reactivate one of my closed accounts to find not only do we get charged VAT but another "Tax" on top.

I've seen no explanation anywhere as to what this "tax" is and I would like an explanation.

Well, I have supported Ultima Online over the years both through my active subscription and purchasing the various expansions, add ons and boosters (not to mention various codes). Nonetheless, I must say that I agree on the argument that such an old game as Ultima Online really should not have such a deterrant as increased overall costs for players.

I mean, if we want Ultima Online to endeavour and keep going, it must maintain a certain appeal and since its software and graphics is older as compared to other games, at least there should be some appeal in its pricing to maintain a certain attractiveness.

I understand that taxes are mandated and not a choice of the company that owns the game but the Company could lower the price of the subscriptions a little to maintain the overall total not varied even if including taxes.

Increased prices because of taxes might loose subscriptions and so the overall revenue from UO could still go down as much if not more of what it could go down if the Company lowered the subscriptions cost a little to take into account the taxes BUT, it would, at least in theory, maintain a decent level of players which might help get more players get to UO or back to UO thanking to the lowered cost or, if we will, overall same cost even when adding taxes.

That is, as I see it, it would be better for the game and its appeal to perspective and current players if the overall costs would not go up.

That's at least my opinion of it.

Congratulations! You are now being taxed as if you live in the US! See my post "Dear Electronic Arts" and it's a speaking point. There are areas of the US that have no sales tax, yet even those persons are being taxed now.

EA has produced one heck of a fun time ... without even playing UO! Right?
