Why do you post on Stratics as opposed to some other forum?

I was just here looking for some information on mining.

There is no mining forum anymore. The detailed skill information for mining hasn't been updated since ML.

I went to another site and found the information that I was looking for. That site seems to have much more recent information than Stratics.

The thing is, that site doesn't have a forum. I think it has a forum that it is associated with, but that forum has a different web address.

Why is this "the" site?

Is it because it used to be the official site?

Is it because people don't want to lose their post count?

Is it because people are afraid of change?

What is it?

Personally, I'd rather be going to a site with a forum and updated information rather than a site with a forum and out dated information.

For me it's a comfort thing. This is where I started posting a long time ago, along with the old official UO forum. Since the official one went away, this became it. It's familiarity for me.

As far as the information on Stratics goes, I believe its not being updated by the people it's supposed to be updated by... us.

This isn't the only forums I post on.

But seriously, it's because I enjoy getting PM's from the Stratics Mods once a week telling me how much they enjoy reading my posts.

The people that maintain their forum I'd suspect. It's been stated several times that I've seen that all of the information you see on Stratics guidewise was submitted by players. If we do not contribute new information, no new information is added.

If I'm wrong on this, hopefully a moderator will correct me on this.

No, you are right.

The thing is, if other sites have updated information and this site has old, outdated information maybe that needs to change?

Or maybe, we need to move to an updated site?

I post here because I've been coming here since the official UO boards closed back in the day. And since I'm a creature of habit, I just kept coming back. I have signed up for other forums, but never really found the need to use them like I do stratics.

This is me, too. I actually did not want to come here when the old forums closed. It took me a year to do it. Now ... it is habit.

I had the same problem. The the old forums closed I didn't like the idea of having to move to a new board. After the move though, I eventually got used to it.

I fear change.

I post here more so because of the specialized sections for skills and trades, and for the larger number of people.

Content is old and outdated...but is also being updated by posters within the forums in the form of FAQ's etc which is being moved to content pages.

the mining forum exists...it was combined with other crafts.

Admittedly, it's never been easy to submit and update content here...that has changed as you'll see....and those that have submitted info will see it posted.

So you want an updated site here? Write up a guide....send in some updates monster stats...all kinds of stuff to do
