Why do you dislike Hackers?!

Yes its true folks there are hackers in uo!

its seems today there is a growing trend of speed hacks and obstacle removals.

with the removal of real gms and in game occupation the hacks abound!
it seems posting to a gm that you suspect someone hacking only gets you an automated repsonse. Correct me if im wrong but even suspicion of hacks should be looked into i dont care how you get the message.

This is clearly one more step toward the demise of uo and if you dont believe me take a good look at diablo online. as soon as the moderators stoped preventing hackers and exploits the game was doomed for failure.

Please make your posts here if you dislike hackers, if you are one and if so! can i get that speed hack everyones passin out?! i cant keep up...

Please if your EA staff I beg you stop the bleeding. this has gotten out of control.

I think the word "hackers" is a bit too arbitrary and I'm not so sure that it really fits modern MMOs... Duping? Exploiting? Speedhacking? Those fit UO a little better than just the term "hacking" and are some of the bigger complaints as opposed to obstacle removal...

As much as I agree nothing but a totally new client (SA)will stop that for long.
Unless the Devs come up with SA2 (2-D) and SA3 (3-D) dont think there is much hope.

But it does effect you, maybe not directly but it does...

Your characters scrolled up? PvP effects you these days since the Zerg guilds pretty much control the spawns. Stat Scrolls? Same thing.. Buy resources? Yep scripters provide a lot of what you see for sale in bulk. Cheating effects us all in some way, hacking much less so but it still has an effect....

A hacker is someone who breaks into a system they are not authorized to access. So in terms of UO, a hacker would be someone who steals someone else's username and password. I don't believe that action is all that prevalent within UO (though it does exist).

Asking why someone dislikes a Hacker would be like asking why I dislike a burglar. The answer should be obvious: I don't like someone taking my stuff!

Seriously though, yeah, it's time to stop it. Screw the people that think PunkBuster and other programs like it are spyware, it's not, tons of people who play online games now use it. Just deal with it. It will help the game.

Wrong. A new client would not prevent it any more than doing something with 2d to prevent it would. No matter what you so someone will find a way around your security and 2d could easily have more security added.

This is a quick release. I was gone for a bit, got back a little late and I'm sneezing every 20 seconds along with having problems with some of my scripts and programs. So this version doesn't include the updates I would have like to included, but it will hold everybody for now.

Also, it is a new installer. It SHOULD find your Ultima Online install folder automatically, but if it does not for some reason you can still place the .exe in your Ultima Online install folder and patch that way.

This has nothing to do with duping, it's altering the game client in a way that gives a pure advantage to those who use it.

That's why I hate hackers.

That's more reverse engineering and reprogramming than it is hacking, and all of that's possible simply because of one little disc released to the general public just before UO's first expansion.
