why cant you add mage armor back to armor?

So you can remove mage armor from an armor pieace but cant get it back? Bs

Never had call to do so, so maybe I'm wrong, but isn't their an NPC who can add mage armour?

If this is correct, then a mage guildmaster can add the property. For 250k gold. Trip to new haven?

I'm sure there had to be room to add it. Like a spare imbuing slot. I've never tried to add it, only remove.

Publish 81 patch notes:

Mage armor has been removed from imbuing, reforging, and enhancing. Armor now can be converted to and from Mage Armor by paying a Mage guild master 250,000 gold. Applying mage armor is still subject to the armor not having more than four properties or not being an artifact. Mage Armor now has an imbuing weight of zero.
