Why can't we have both story quests and have combat gains? I like quests! I like combat gains! What I don't like is being forced to do repetitive job board tasks like killing millions of wolves in Deceit over and over again. Nobody does. I would like to do both main quests and get some gains while doing it. Some of those skills are painfully slow to get and the board tasks were helping. Overall, this design needs some smoothing out and it will be optimal.
Combat gains allow us to have some adventure and we feel less like we're being told we have to kill Kobolds in Northshire Valley or find 200 zebra hooves! We all hate that in MMORPGS. Give us some adventurall for the slow gains. Thanks.
