Why can't my characters loot corpses on the same account?

Character A died in a moderate spawn area. I got a res, and knowing I had no chance of retrieving my belongings without dying again, I recalled home to wait out the two minutes until I could log in on my stealther on the same account. When I got back to character A's bones I'm told 'sorry you can't look at that corpse'.

Why can't my characters loot each other?

Same reason there are combat timers/soulstone timers. Your meant to play the game with a 720 skill cap and being able to swap characters to perform certain feats gives you beyond 720 skill points for those actions.

As a character you're limited to 720 skill points to go and fight monsters and recover your corpses. That's part of the game and part of what makes it nice and challenging.

WoW's ghost corpse running system does nothing but add play time. In UO there's a real reason you have to get back to your corpse and it causes you to not go where you don't belong as a character.

Can't say that I agree with that logic. If I'm partied with someone I could give them the rights to loot my body. That extends beyond my 720 skill cap.
Unfortunately there are so few players on the shards I play it is sometimes difficult to find help.

Aside from that, every thing else is interchangeable....housing, skills, vendors, soon to be gold, etc.

if you really wanted to do this you could join the thieves guild. character will then be lootable by anyone, including the other characters on same account (or any of your other accounts)

:facepalm:What are you talking about and do you really believe that this is all about 720 skills? People use to be able to loot corpses in Tram a long time ago so UO made it where only you could get your own stuff back unless you gave looting rights to other players which would be hard to do if that Char was on the same account.

We have different opinions is all. You think because Tram allowed lootable corpses 20 years ago that means it has nothing to do with skill caps. I think that because soulstones/combat timers are in place today it has everything to do with skill caps and being able to swap characters as needed. There's no need to be rude about it. Neither of us wrote the system and it's likely just the way it is because of a series of decisions. I personally like it and it makes the game keep that challenge.
