Why am I flagged orange?

So I am in Felucca and I am flagged orange in a non-contested city. If a player attacks me, am I a free kill? How can I change this?

BTW, I have been away from the game for a couple years.

You entered a city that was currently under VvV. If you stay more than 30(?) seconds, you become orange and are attackable by any other orange player. If an orange kills you, you go back to being blue ( I assume you are blue?), if not killed you have to wait 4 or 8 hours. Can't remember which.

you might not have been in a waring town, if you where you would have gotten a gump pop up on your screen saying so and a option to leave and a 30 second count down.

if you healed someone in VvV or attacked someone in VvV even if they showed red then your in.
there a couple ways to get recruited in and not know, hehe.

Yeah, I've been orange for weeks. I'm not in VvV. I stealth around Atlantic Fel Yew gate from time to time, but it certainly can't be the current VvV city every time I'm there. So I've been wondering this myself.

LOL that's precisely what it feels like. I guess I'm just going to have to man up and let Hi-5 do a 5 v 1 on me at Fel Yew gate to remove this awful color confusion already.
