Why again can't pets attack own faction?

I witnessed this kinda situation:

Two players from same faction but different guilds (these guilds fight each other all the time).

The other one was on tamer, the other one on archer. Now what happens? The archer goes on the tamer and tamer can't do **** against the guys shooting arrows to his face lol.

Yeah PvP would prolly be better off without tamers but right there I kinda felt sry for the guy.

I THINK the pet will attack if its guarding. Mearly speculation, but i agree tamers have no place in pvp....

Tamers belong in pvp just as much as any template. As for the op, it's a wierd situation, pets won't attack members of the faction, unless they are guarding and they take damage.

The only reason I can think of for not allowing pets to attack faction mates is to prevent pets from going after faction mates when they walk into hostile fields, but the fact that they will go after faction mates if they are attacked in some way when they are guarding kind of ruins that idea.

It's a stupid situation and it should be changed. If you are going to stop pets from attacking faction mates then no one should be allowed to attack faction mates. I don't want to see that, so pets should be allow to go after faction mates. Tamers should be allowed to defend themselves using their full template if they are attacked by a faction mate.

You pretty much nailed it here... If you don't remember to tell your pets to guard you they will attack faction and even guildmates if they walk to hostile fields. So atm. this situation makes no sense at all.

Well, I think complainers have no place in pvp......If you're in a faction, there needs to be no cause to attack another faction member, what's the point?

Why?...because theirs guilds bicker like little kids? pvp players need alot of growing up.

It is ridiculous that you can set pets on enemy factioners. The reason why Mysticism is so prevalent in pvpers at the moment is not because of spell plague, but you need mass sleep thanks to everyone using dread war horses and now bane dragons. I can't believe that the player can actually be awarded points and a player can go into stat loss from being killed by pets.

Everyone knows that a kill isn't really a kill if you use a pet, i know it, you know it, the whole of sosario knows it.

Summons, fine, you can dispel them.

Pets won't attack a faction mate when they are guarding unless they themselves take damage, which essentially means they won't attack faction mates unless they get caught in an aoe, which most of the time is exactly when you don't want them to attack a faction mate.

As for the rest of it. I can't control what other members of my faction do. Some of them will kill anyone, including faction mates, and as a tamer mage if I am attacked by a faction mate I am left to defend myself with half my template.

"Everyone knows" you don't have a clue. It takes just as much skill, planning and preparation, and just as cool a head, to play a tamer in pvp as it does any other template. And in fact, in my opinion playing a tamer in pvp well is actually more challenging because you not only have to do all the same things that any other player has to do for your own character, but you have to maintain and control the pet or pets as well.

It also takes a thick skin because of all the tamer haters, such as yourself, out there...

I can think of no good reason for this and really wish they would change it. I also hate how blues can grief by discoing the pet without being flagged.
