Who's broken the 2D Speech Colour?

Okay, so logged in after the last patch to 2D. Notice that the location of the config. files have changed. Fine, not a problem - everything seems to work, except...

All character's speech colour and emotes are back to default. Not only that, but can't save it back to how it was before, as it reverts back to default when I log out.

As much as I love doing it on every log in, I want my colours back!

One more annoying, useless, and UNANNOUNCED change. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who use the default yellow text. If you don't have your eyes glued to the screen while they talk, you end up wasting so much time staring at your journal trying to read that stupid yellow text.

I hope there's some sort of trick to make your color changes "stick" from one log-in to the next. Otherwise, this becomes just one more straw piling up on the camel's back.... One more stupid thing that probably wasn't meant to work this way but slipped through QA and we'll be lucky if it ever gets fixed again.

Have you tried the UOAssist option to set all the text you see to one color? Really helps to eliminate having to try and read some of the oddball colors some people choose.

Here's a better fix for any problems people are having with UO and Norton: TELL THEM TO STOP USING NORTON. It would be different if stuff like this hadn't happened between the two programs before.

Of course, i'm probably just bitter because their sucky program has made me unable to play UO... but whatever.

Seeing as how this PC has been running for a decade (with 98) and UO worked until yesterday's patch? The answer would be "yeah, till they broke it yesterday".

If you take forever to fix this, or pass it on to UO's next dev team, then I will write you a very angwree letter, telling you how angwree I am writh you.

Edit: Also your patch notes for publish 57 are dated Mar 21 2005 4:13PM CST, and neither publish 57 nor 56 show up in the updates pages, so it appears that 55 was the last publish.

Okay on a serious note, I just checked the new uo.cfg file and speech color settings are not even included with it. This is why our speech color is no longer customizable/able to be saved-- there isn't any data for it in your speech configuration file. You can save party message color and that's it.

Thankfully, macros are in another file which is saved. But you'll have to reset your speech and emote color every time you play. (From now on!!! Angwree letter!!!)

Anyone notice any other settings missing? Seems like it may be more than just speech color.

This is indeed very annoying, speech colors help so much to create some sort of personality in the characters... And default Emote colors are simply invisible in the journal...

Keep the letter template. If anything else goes wrong, white-out the words 'Speech Colour' and replace them with 'PvP Balance' / 'Reagent Cost' / 'My Cu Sidhe's Left Hind Leg' / 'The Cost of Cheese' / 'nothing's actually gone wrong, I just wrote this letter ages ago and it'd be a shame not to use it' and lo! a fully customised and very pretty complaint form.

I am still having this issue with one computer... My default speech color does not save on any character or any account. On a different computer it works just fine. Is there a file/folder I can delete and cause a re-patch? Perhaps a line I should add to the uo.cfg file?

Well I broke down and reinstalled it. Did the trick and fixed my problem - thanks!
