White Wyrms

Hi all,

I've recently returned to UO after many years away when the toughest pets were dragons and white wyrms and that was about it.

Working my taming back up again and would just like to ask what people think of white wyrms these days?

I remember them having better magic than dragons back when I used to play and hitting a bit faster but when comparing stats these days dragons seem to come out on top in just about everything.

Only thing I can think of that would make a ww more desirable is it's potential to have very high cold resist and some cold based damage.
Am I missing some other great thing about ww's these days that anyone would care to share?
Interested in hearing people's experiences with them, hope they're still handy in this day and age of greater dragons, as I used to love my old pure ww.

Just to point out I'm not at the point where I can tame the greater dragons at the moment but can tame ww's, whatever the feedback there will always be a spot in my stable for one.

Each pet has its own little niche. For example, I'd prefer using my white wyrm against something that does cold damage over a dragon, even if it's one of those super dragons with their 700+ HP, especially since I can pair a white wyrm with a two slotter pet. A white wyrm with a nightmare/kirin/unicorn/etc will most likely do much more damage than the greater dragons.

I still love my white wyrms, especially my first one whom I named Gandalf. It just so happened I tamed Gandalf on foot. I suppose that prepared me for the new dragons.

I think I will always love using a white wyrm and nightmare combo just because of all the great memories of learning how to play a tamer character that pairing brings to mind. I also have a 7X GM white wyrm named Valentino in my stable on Baja. I will always remember the day he was given to me and the very special person who gave him to me. I'll also never forget how entranced my grandson was the first time he saw one of my WW's "fly" and how delighted he was just to watch one strut across the screen, following my tamer. White wyrms are definitely in my top three favorite types of pets (along with nightmares and greater hiryus).
