(Player Event) Whispers on the Wind

Governor Ivy Covedweller of Vesper has not been seen or heard from since her failed diplomatic mission to the Cove orc fort. There, would-be diplomats were attacked by orcs and harbingers, and the governor was hauled away on an orc ship by an unknown orcish kidnapper... who appeared to be in league with none other than Holly Bloodhand. While rumors abound of Ivy's possible whereabouts and fate, no solid evidence--save her sandals fished up from the Vesper dock--has yet emerged.

The governor's Lycaeum-trained daughter Willow Covedweller has been carefully studying and preparing a new spell that she believes will allow her to communicate with her missing mother across whatever distance separates them.

She has asked for the assistance of anyone willing to help find her mother and bring her home safely. Join her at the Vesper Auction House on Friday, June 17th at 9PM ET to help her cast the spell to find Ivy!

As governor of Minoc I will be instructing all citizens of fighting age to rally at your place to help slay these orks and aid in the finding of Ivy.

I spent more time watching and observing than interacting last night. It was quite creative and interesting watching the mechanic and items used to create it. Not to mention the time it probable took to create and decorate the Dragons Den. Then the time taming and releasing all creatures.

Then you had the drama (RP) between a drunken Tehan antagonists vs Willow. Made me wonder if Tehan really wanted Ivy found.

The night before this event I participated in an EM event on Legend.

*looks around to make sure EM Erebus isn't around*

The event was to look for the Jester cat in Blackthorn dungeon. We fight tons of Dragons. Next thing I know my character panics and dies to a Crimson Dragon. We end up in the Trash Room fighting Garbage Elementals and Giant Mutant Dogs... The cat jumps into K-9 division portal

To get to the point I found the player event on Chessy more entertaining and along the lines of UO. I guess the EM on Legends was going for a comedy approach.

If you keep attending player and EM (especially governor) events, you'll start to see there are several storylines ongoing with several players, and they interact and intertwine with one another sometimes. And of course, the characters frequently bicker about them as well. Once you figure out what in the world people are talking about and what stance your character should take, your interaction starts to flow naturally from the situations.

A lot more people showed up to this than I expected. Thanks for coming, everyone.

I got a Governor spot on Legend Shard. So, I will be bouncing between Chessy and Legends. There a small guild I've been in since 2003 on Legends. Been mainly lone wolf on Chessy.

The player events like this and RP are the reasons for being on Chessy.

It was well planned, well played, and a good time. I wish I knew the entire back story, but I got the jist of it. Makes me excited and nervous to try and come up with something that I can make an event out of -- out of Minoc. I do have something in the works! Idk if it'll be as good as what you put in last night.

I missed it last night. Fell asleep at like 830. I guess I was tired. I'm not really tracking the story arc either, but I do know that there was a crazy fight against weirdo things in yew the other day. Not sure how related all that is.... I thought someone said something about Ivy then.

There's a lot of backstory here and there on this forum if you scroll back and look at what's been done. Not everything was written up, but a good amount.

Going to be a little slow at first, cause I want to see how schedules play out -- I don't want to step on another event, or governor meeting, or auction. Which is good -- cause it'll give me time to think of something fun. I have many ideas, I just don't know how others will think of it.

When Governor was abducted by Holly Bloodhand, it appears the pirate hired or bribed the local ork clan to help her.

Thats why I mentionned maybe we could get some hints on her whereabouts, when we engaged the orks in Yew. Since we were already beating on them, might as well ask a question or two before giving the killing blow..

Holly has some talents in making our lives miserable. First time she uses a horde of dragons on us.. And she still has eluded us !

Great job Ivy ! That was fun and creative !

You should keep an eye on Willow though, she's been toying with black magics to find you..

Hehe.. Well, Ivy and Tehan have very different personalities. Ivy is more empathic and better with diplomacy that Tehan is. Tehan is quite impulsive, prefers action to words, even if it means getting in trouble from time to time.

So they had their share of clashes over the years. But in the end, they're on the same side on the battlefield. And Tehan would not let her die at the hands of Bloodhand if theres something he can do about it.

You'll get a hold of each character pretty quick if you attend our events. We often refer to past events, because we have a rich history and long lasting story arcs, but you'll figure out quite easily where everone stands.

Seriously though, I'm going to need my own personal UO calendar to keep up with all this. haha.

I'm also disappointed that for me (I'm central time) most of the events wind up coming at kiddo bedtime or before. I'm usually a post-kiddos in bed player.

But, I am working to make an effort to attend events. Yes sir/ma'am/things.

I've got my UO calendar Sunday Chessy and Thursday Legends. Legends has some interesting events like Paintball.

They have a sticky thread on the Legend Shard forum called "Fluffy's Event Guide" it has some interesting non-rp events.

Regarding scheduling:

There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum that @DreadLord Lestat and I try to keep updated with the Chesapeake events we are aware of as they come in. Check it out here.

I used to send out mass event reminders on ICQ to people who asked for them, but ICQ apparently decided this constituted spam and my account was seriously messed up for a few weeks while their "customer service" (quotation marks completely appropriate here) couldn't seem to figure out what I was talking about. You can still look at my ICQ status to see if there is a Ches event on a given day--I'll try to keep that up to date. My ICQ # is 1234 98 286.

You can also check the Stratics calendar, which is not as comprehensive as I'd like at the moment, but will include events that people have added to the calendar correctly. You can go into the settings tab of the calendar and select all the things you don't want to see, thus filtering it down to just one or a few shards/event types.
