The
Meer have positive Karma, they are blue.
Fictionally, they have never been enemies, and the closest they ever came was bringing down
a plague upon Yew, which sounds (and is) pretty bad, but it was quite clear that it was a complete accident upon the Meer's part. (They were casting a spell they thought would help us against the Juka. They screwed it up. Badly.) Further, following their error and the havoc it wreaked, they found a way to help us lift the actual plague (if your shard won the scenario fully), but Yew remained a swamp until the Heartwood Elves reappeared in full, and restored it. (You know how the Bane tell you "remember what the Meer did to Yew?" That's what they are referring to.)
Queen Dawn has
a strong friendship with the Meer girl Dasha, the two
shared the experience of losing their homes. Recent fiction makes it clear
that this friendship continues.
Great Lakes-specific EM events and EM-done fiction makes it clear that the Meer are allies, and provides specific reasons to think that the Bane are actually in league with the demons who attacked Britain.
Really, I think the point is for us to make up your own mind. At first, we were presented with one group we had every reason to think was evil, or at least was incredibly hostile (the Ophidians), and one group that had a
very bad feel about them but were at least human.
Now, that same group has an even worse feel and is attacking known allies and non-evil creatures. But those allies have no current rewards to offer.
The theme of the event cycle is
how virtuous are you when no one's looking. How virtuous you are with no obvious reward, at least no immediately obvious reward anyway, is a separate but potentially related point.
Really, I think the point is to make up your own mind.
On all shards, Britain was recently attacked by demons with blackrock golems in tow. What would you need to make a blackrock golems?
Maybe tons of crystalline blackrock (unlike normal blackrock, the crystalline blackrock is stable enough to be used as a magical component without blowing stuff up) and some power crystals? Both of which we've been giving to the Bane?
Really, I think the point is to make up your own mind.
But what do you think?
