Where does one catch Blue Marlins?, High Seas question.

Say… While talking about “High Seas”… I have been dealing with so much other issues, both in real life and game wise… I forgot to ask a high seas question. I don’t know if anyone is even worrying about that part of our UO world… so I thought I would ask in the most populated area of the boards.

Until a little set back last month that took me out of the game for a month before that… I was fishing nearly 3 times a week, trying to farm MIBs, Nets and Maps for sale and trade in. Then the “baronial covered” rubbish came… I was buying those special hooks and collecting those for sale. (May I add… totally unfair that rubbish wasn’t on the trade in list considering the trouble of getting the hooks.) BUT… the big question I don’t understand is that I have never seen a Blue Marlin. Plenty of unwanted Yellow Barracuda… but it's Blue Marlin that can be taxidermy kitted into wall mounted trophies.

So… what's the deal?

I fish in Tram… I thought they spawned in Tram. That’s what it says on uoguide. Plus… 110 fishing skill. I think my fisher has more then that.

I didn't catch my first blue marlin untill I hit 120 fishing however, a guildmate caught 2 at 105 skill. You can catch them anywhere in deep water in Trammel. I caught mine off the north end of the Sea Market.

You're fishing in the right place, they're just very rare.

I didn't catch my first blue marlin untill I hit 120 fishing however, a guildmate caught 2 at 105 skill. You can catch them anywhere in deep water in Trammel. I caught mine off the north end of the Sea Market.

I should have mentioned... yeah, I'm always in deep water. Not just in life, but when I do game fishing as well.

My skill is at 110 and I've caught 2 so far in Tram deep water. It probably doesn't make a difference but I was moving forward slowly (trolling?) going from one sos location to another when I caught both Blue Marlins. I wasn't really targeting them; I was just trying to get a few more mibs. It's also the same way I caught my Kingfish.

UO Stratics *New* | Fishing in the High Seas

Well… that page on Stratics only mirrors the page on uoguide. Something I didn’t notice before… is that there is a bait on both pages. So, I did a search and found one… 500k. Borrowed one of those new Spring Cleaning 2011 fishing suits. Put a brand new boat in the water… headed out good and far away from the island and into deep water. Over 110 casts… used up all 100 charges from the bait.

Results:

8 useless yellow barracuda.
6 serpents with not a thing on them.
The rest was assorted useless new fish, messes of fish, shoes.

(big sigh)

And people wonder why I hate the High Seas addition so much. Worth every penny!!! … it isn't. hehe

My fisherman is at only 100 skill and I generally catch 1 blue marlin maybe every 10-15 hours of fishing time.

I've only caught a few of them... Never used bait.

I got my first around 105 fishing...

Always deep sea Trammel.

And try as I might I still haven't caught a black marlin.
