Often when I use my gargoyle stealther, (classic Client), everything in Trammel, including the music, changes to Felucca scenerios, so it's possible to have barren trees in a Trammel screen shot. Once upon a time I reported this bug. But it still happens. Why are the trees desolate, as if you're in Felucca? And it looks like a council room. I hope that doesn't mean a player-run council on every shard. I'm not sure UO needs an officially recognized egomaniac on every shard, complete with rigged elections and back-room politics.
SHAMELESS RUMOUR STARTING: BLACKTHORN LOVERS PREPARE TO HAVE HOPES CRUELLY RAISED NOW!Please, please, pretty pretty please with sugar on top, let this mean Lord Blackthorn is back to rule Sosaria.
Loved every bit of the new castle.
had the same problem until one of the techies here recommended doing this...Often when I use my gargoyle stealther, (classic Client), everything in Trammel, including the music, changes to Felucca scenerios, so it's possible to have barren trees in a Trammel screen shot. Only do this if you want the desolation turned off every time you're in Fel.had the same problem until one of the techies here recommended doing this...
How to turn off fel desolation ...
You can turn it off client side (UO Classic) by opening the UO.cfg file, in the character folder under the UO desktop area.
You will see a main folder with the title of your acct name and in that folder are sub-folders that lists all the characters on the particular acct.
Find the character folder you want to change and once you open its UO.cfg file find this line ...
Desolation=on
And change to "Desolation=off"
then just save file ...
*you will need to do this for each character in the account folder that you want to change ...
Actually, my bet is that by the end of this arc (September), Lord British will be back. Now, I know that Richard Garriott has kept his rights to that character. (I cannot remember for certain who it was that told me that. It actually might have been Robert Asprin who told me, because his ex-wife, Lynn Abbey worked on the Ultima books, but I can't be certain. I either heard it from him, or heard it from another pro at a convention.) But it's been a long time, and it *would* be a fitting climax for this anniversary. And for the right price, Garriott might consider allowing the character to make a return. (Good press and all that.) But I think that your proposed storyline absolutely has merit and is an alternative. But I still think we'll get Lord British back, imho. Time will tell....SHAMELESS RUMOUR STARTING: BLACKTHORN LOVERS PREPARE TO HAVE HOPES CRUELLY RAISED NOW!
Well you see, in the original Ultima IV timeline, Blackthorn is not just alive but as yet uncorrupted by the Shadowlords. Perhaps then in the Ultima Forever game we expect to be announced tomorrow, when the Gem of Immortality was shattered here in Ultima Online, one of the alternative timelines spawned was the coming Ultima Forever timeline too, which apparently will be based on Ultima 4. And maybe there, Lord Blackthorn was not just able to remain uncorrupted, but perhaps went travelling with British at a later date in what would be Ultima V to the Underworld... and he survived where British did not, and returned to the Realm as the declared Heir Apparent... where upon he proceeded to rule along the basis of his own virtuous chaotic beliefs as a form of enlightened democracy...
Meanwhile here in Ultima Online, the recent plot line of Exodus returning, and the revelation in the associated book at the end of the event that our Blackthorn was experimenting with cross dimensional travel, has led to cross dimensional contamination; although for different reasons across different shards, the absence of the history and personal locations of the "Good" Blackthorn in Trammel has left a psychic space here, and whether Exodus was trying to put a submissive Blackthorn in it's place, or that emptiness proved impossible for Exodus to control, it caused a transfusion from Ultima Forever timeline into our own... dragging not just Blackthorn himself, pure and uncorrupted here, where he still believes himself to be the monarch; but also replacing his entire island and castle in the empty space we now have.
There was no space for him in Felucca however, with his castle and tomb still standing, so that element of the shard stayed true to our own timeline. But with Dawn dead, and the realm in chaos, the populace were quite prepared to embrace a ruler not just beloved by our former Liege, Lord British, but one who had avoided all of the sins we knew Blackthorn could have succumb too, and who also had not just the knowledge of Government but the fortunately appearing infrastructure too....
YOU MAY NOW ALL CURSE ME FOR TORMENTING YOU!
Sorry about that, I'd been in Fel on Europa before I logged in to test center, I guess I brought it with me.Why are the trees desolate, as if you're in Felucca? And it looks like a council room. I hope that doesn't mean a player-run council on every shard. I'm not sure UO needs an officially recognized egomaniac on every shard, complete with rigged elections and back-room politics.
easy out...bIackthorn - with in in-game font, the I looks like an l (looks the same, spelled differently, legal)I just hope it's a human Blackthorn

Thanks Queen Mum. That I did know but I didn't want to turn off Desolation since I often visit Felucca.Only do this if you want the desolation turned off every time you're in Fel.
Yep. Those books. My first memory of Richard Garriott was attending a convention in Austin, Tx and there being this dude there in full plate armor - and it was summer! My then-husband and I didn't approach the guy in the armor, though he obviously had some sort of following. At the time, UO was just getting started and I knew nothing at all about it. At the time, we were trying to catch up to Steve Jackson of Jackson Games (of Illuminati fame), because my husband needed permission to use some of his material in a book he was writing.
