I keep them around but what we really need is for someone nice on a shard to start a community outreach and place the stones there for folk to come by and see if they can find theirs.

I wish there was some way to return stones to folk.

i suggested a turn in box at brit bank where you drop stones in.
when you open the box to look you only see ones tied to your account and you can remove those.

I like that suggestion as well.

I would like, however, to be able to turn in old soulstones not linked to my account for something of value....perhaps a fragment?

But i absolutely agree with the house deal....I dont understand the need to keep houses on dead accounts, osi owned, etc.

The script messes up wipes out Widow Maker's Items, and house. He pages a Gm. Gm says the usual sorry we cant replace your stuff. Because instead of the script wiping out unpaid account houses it wipes out paid for account houses.

I thought on one shard (maybe Lake Austin) the developers requested the players to send in locations of all the bad houses (had something to do with owned by DSFA or something like that) that needed brought down. Many players did so but nothing happened and later on when people started asking when they were planning on doing something about the houses they stated the spreadsheet was lost/deleted/misplaced (sounds familiar) and for the players to resend the data. Not sure if they ever did take the houses down.

Yes if the account of the owner has not paid in last 3 months -> IDOC

Simple. Asking players to submit Excel spreadsheets is BS.

I'm curious... how do you guys even know which houses are unused and unpaid for?

There is one by me that has said "This Structure is Fairly Worn" for over a month now in the Condition field, and the name is "Demolition Pending" and Owner is "OSI" and while they could fake a few things, I don't think they could fake the condition.

I have a feeling that the bartender in it kept it from going IDOC.

Yes I see now. Clearly these houses should be deleted. Better yet, fix the bug that keeps them standing with Barkeepers/Vendors. I was actually told recently that you can report these to GMs and they will drop them. Not sure if there's any truth to it.

I wonder if you could just get the GM to move the barkeepers/vendors out of the house, if that would kick off the timer.

Good heavens....a script that takes the house > ignore npc > owner > account > account paid in last 90 days > idoc if no.

All owned by OSI > idoc

Every house..every shard.

Guess that means that house locations(lat/lon) of houses is Not contained in the housing db, owned by is, just not location - is why they can't find them?
But, why can "OSI" own multiple houses, but the rest of us can't? Seems That would be the direction to look, eh?
I'd venture there's plenty other things are not included in databases - so we will never have acct restore either

i have one acct that i reactivate for typically 30 days every 3 months when the house goes slightly worn. this is a carefully watched over house and highly used by my other accts. my in game activity is not as much as it use to be due to work so i am doing this over and over until i have more time on my hands. someone marches in and deletes that acct... well that would be devistating. all my crafting resources and tons of stuff id hate to see go are in it. just on the assumption that I am "inactive" permanently. it does not sound we have made it that far but a script could really mess with folks that let accts lapse with full intent of returning. that is why they give you three months before they start decaying

I am closing down my accts after spring cleaning and I told a friend in game about it and she had asked if I was "just going to do the 90 day idoc" I didn't ask her to explain what that meant and now I think I understand her.. So correct me if Im wrong I can close my acct. and in 90 days reactivate it for 1 month and close it again and the house will remain? so every 90 days just pay for 1 month and I get 4 months of having an extra house for like 3 dollars a month? If so isn't this kinda like an exploit? I was not aware this could be done I thought after 30 days the houses went into Idoc mod and fell 3 days later? I have to say I am not sure how I feel about this beings how I have payed on 3 acct since (1 since 1999 1 since 2001 and the last 2003) 1 of which is nothing but storage and 1 that is for my kids to use maybe a total of 50 days out of the year and is storage and the last I play and have all my main chars on it. At a few points I had 4 acct.

I would have to say I think this needs to be fixed because uo needs the money and houses should fall if the acct isn't active it really seems unfair and dishonest IMPO ....Not to mention how it hurts new players looking for good spots to place a home (well not sure this is a problem anymore the game is empty)
