does the 10 seconds it takes to log out and re-log really create that much of a problem for you?

seriously this is in no way necessary.

they want to be able to switch characters within the same acct without having to log out and re-enter their password.

This issue keeps coming up every few months. To which I always reply: this is not an Ultima Online thing, this is a security best practice thing. It's not going to change.

The only benefit I see to this idea is the transferring of pets (I'm sure there are other reasons - can't think of them). The pet transfer problem can be over come by having an account stable where any char can draw a pet from it if they have the required taming for the stalled pet. Total slots would be additive for all the chars... Just a thought.

No. The pet belongs to your account. Any char can tame it, feed it, a week later, any char can bond it, rez it, if able.

[/ QUOTE ]Hmm, this merits consideration.

Ok, makes sense. *nods*

Sounds like a nice idea, actually...I was just curious about the Bonding process. All your characters could share a beetle, or horse, forest ostard, etc. As long as each character had to have the required skill, I don't see why it would be unbalancing or overpowered. Sounds good to me! *smiles*

I like this idea, but how do you decide how many pets the stables can hold? If you're like me, you only have one set of taming/lore/vet skills that get swapped around via soulstones. But I guess if the "house stable slots" were increased so all 6 or 7 characters on 1 account can share, well, that would be awesome if each character had access to ...ummm, 48- 56 pet slots?

Its not a security best practice thing at all.

Switching characters after you have authenticated has nothing to do with security.

In fact being able to go back to the shard selection screen would save the Login Server some load if it separated the way I think it is.

All that needs to be added is a Quit Game which what currently happens and Change Characters function.

Nothing to do with security, if your authenticated then you know the password and user name, making you re-enter it just to change characters proves nothing.

10 seconds?
Ahemmm, wasnt the login server hit today?
And if I didnt have to relog to switch toons, would I have been able to stay logged and continue to play, for which I pay for?
You got your opinion.

BTW, Guild Wars allows this and it is AWESOME!!!

I don't understand the problem. Explain please.

Ok.
Its like this.
1. Today login server got hit. If I didnt have to relog to switch toons, It wouldnt have had much affect now would it?
2. Try logging in your cross shard trade toons, 7 per shard, on just the american shards, let alone all the others. Sheesh the many times I have to type my password for the SAME account!!
3. I logged into my account, of which I have many toons on many shards. Its allowed. Why do I have to keep relogging to switch chars on the SAME account? Now if I switch accounts, sure I can see it, but the same one?

Beginning to see my point?

A security best practice thing to type my password 50 million times for the same account chars?
Nah, it aint the best practice, its the original practice thats outdated.
