When is this gonna stop?

I'm sick of seeing a young player and i know who he is...spamming selling gold for sale and his website.. and he is abusing the 14day free trial accts to make chars after someone pages and they ban him. he is unlimitted use to these accts and gm's never ban his ip or get rid of it.. perhaps they should stop the free trials altogether. This is on Atlantic shard,luna bank.

I disagree about removing free trials. This game needs a way to offer players a free chance to get into this game and see if they like it.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to prevent these people from doing it. IP's can easily be changed. If there is a way to permanently ban people aside from banning an IP it would be great.

What they should do is have an EA member buy the gold and try and trace it back to this person's legitimate account.

Could also make it so that free trials do not have the ability to choose a name.. it just randomly picks one based on the type of character.. would resolve the website names...

I see this just continuing.. the spamming at luna banks at least.

There is another way. MAC Address Filtering. Get the MAC Address and ban it. Pretty hard to mask an old one w/ a new one. It can be done but not easily and not 100% so it would be a good place to start. I do it with my home network. I make it so only my few computers can use my network. All the bums that leech off of someones wireless won't be getting any from me

And how is it that one of your people can run up and place over 2 other people trying to place in the same spot?
His spam is more wrong than yours, ok then ban all spammers accounts , just think no more "gating to XXXvendor mall" or "max storage plot for sale party me ", "selling weapons in profil;e party me for offer". how much lag would that cure? and while we are at it lets stop the dropping of guild recruiting books and vendor runes.

Seriously tho..UO has 14 free day accounts? I just went thru to major Geek stores and could NOT even find a UO game on the shelves...Whats wrong with this picture?

Edit: your best bet is just to put this person on Ignore and just enjoying the game. I do know what you mean tho. But nada is ever going to become of it.

No actually all of you disgust me I've seen both of them doing it just thought it was rather ironic that one of the most prolific bank spammers (see his banner ad and user name ) whining about someone else spamming at the bank.the lag caused by all the spammers is why I rarely go to luna , usually go to east brit.but hey using multi accounts to promote and post on boards and in game seems acceptable when some do it but not others.lol speaking of playing by the rules how does he dispose of all the gold he collects with all the houses he can mysteriously place and own to sell? answer the other questions? what 3rd party programs does he use to track and place over and over at idocs?
I still stand by ban all the spammers and while we are at it the banners to promote sale or trade should not they only be allowed in the trade boards here?well I'll end this before it gets moved to rants.

Yen Sid, you talking about the network address of your adapter that can be changed via device manger? All of ours lets us put any address we want - albeit some addresses are system & shouldn't be used.
Takes about 10 seconds to change it. And may be masked if behind a router.

People and credit cards.. remember the game is open to teenagers now, not just adults.

They could do something similar to what Adobe did with CS4. They tie the evaluation of the product to the specific hardware (probably a combination Mac address, CPU serial number, Video Card model etc.).

Once your evaluation period for Adobe CS4 has expired, the product stops working. You can't remove and re-install it. You can't even rebuild your system or create a new VM. It just won't run until you enter a valid product key.

ug, CS3-4, anything that has removal tools is bad news, IMHO. Do hardware/sn ID checks during client install that sends that information to EA, similar to the way MS products 'phone home'. That way no registry hacks can be done.

MAC is layer 2. Does not propagate into that what is commonly referred as "the Internet" at all - there's no way you or EA could find out the MAC of someone who is not in the same physical subnet than you/them.
Also faking a MAC is even easier than faking an IP - most NICs already have that ability built in.
