Is EA and/or Mythic cleaning house like they did with Jeremy?

Yup.

You know what they say, A clean house gathers no moss. Or, dont throw rocks in a clean house. Something like that.

We have initiated a replacement for FoF. Please see the "Ask the Devs" forum. So far, its actually producing more than 5 questions per week.

If the Stratics "Ask the Devs" forum is the new way, then I fear some people won't get to see it.
I think it's great feedback and all. Yes, seems like more Q's get answered which is great, but, the Herald will look sparce without the posts on it. I'd hate for the Herald to look inactive without the Five on Friday.

You have a point Hilde, maybe we can work something out where the questions and answers are posted there as well on a weekly type basis?

That would be a much better idea. Problem is, then people that don't or won't use stratics for whatever reason, won't get a chance to ask the questions either

Perhaps there could be weekly highlights posted on Herald. Or reformat FoF to a faq-like database. Or simply a list of each Q&A. I know some people are put off to scanning :through posts to get the meat. I personally like to read the rantings of stratic-addicts...la

What does, or does not, go on UOHerald is entirely up to EA. They are, of course, compeletly welcome to reproduce the questions and answers from the Stratics board.

This Isn't exactly fair to the users of uoforums either. There are people exclusively there to avoid the rantings of stratics addicts...

There are no 'rantings' on that particular board.
No, but the ability for the devs to answer things for the general populace should NOT be given solely to one site, one who is NOT officially with EA.

Just my opinion on the matter, as I've given up asking the UO team to play fair to all community members across all sites.

No site (Stratics nor UOForums) should have exclusive access to the developers time

Each and every player is important to the game not JUST UOForums/Stratics players

News and requests for feedback on the game needs to be posted on one site only, UOHerald.

"IF" the UO team decide they want a discussion on something, then they should post it either on their own internal forums, or post it on ALL popular (approved) fansite forums for UO.

I've spoken at length to the community director about the unfairness of the UO community program and despite his agreement it was unfair and needed changing, not to mention numerous promises, it never happened.

I have a great respect for the work Stratics does for the UO community, especially the hardworking staff like Petra Fyde ( 4 Petra!), but it's unfair to UO players in general and fansites other than stratics when the only place official feedback is requested and sometimes, important information is posted, is on the Stratics' forums.

Gah sorry if this is turning into a rant, but it's incredibly frustrating sometimes.

It would take much more of their time to read/answer questions on a number of fansites. I see no problem of them picking one fansite and using that. Stratics is the largest and oldest? Seems a good choice.

Makes sense that they'd choose the fansite with the largest membership/viewership.

I have to agree with Adam, not one fan site should have exclusive access. UOHerald is the idea location for all post dealing with updates and news on UO. Of course having that news or updates posted at Stratics or UOForums with a link back to UOHerald has been great. Anytime I see a post from there I always click on the link to see the main page and has Paul Harvey would say, that the rest of the story.

But.

We all know that the uo team has been reduced and while the 'need to know' stuff like publishes and patchnotes is, and will always be, on UOHerald, the 'nice to know' stuff is now, currently, here.

Can we not find some way to work together to bring the real questions here for the Devs and take back the answers to our individual posters?
Adam, you are as capable as we are of filtering out the ones players can easily answer, and the occasional 'question' that is really an insult and attack. Contact me by pm, or icq and lets see what we can work out.

In all honesty, I don't believe uoherald is 100% fair, as it might not even occur to some players to look at the main site.

The only absolutely 100% way to make sure all players get access to info is to do it IN THE GAME ITSELF.

So far one of the best systems I've seen for this is Eve Online (which btw it's pvp system feels like it draw heavily from UO of old).

At every gate in game there is a 'billboard' to check on latest news.
There's also a built in web browser so you can easily visit the site, plus a wiki.

So this would make a good 'ask the devs' question.

How about an in game system for news and things like ask the devs/fof?
I mean really.. we all got fancy new mail boxes... how bout doing something good with them?

If they had to sort through every single thread/post, I agree

BUT, if they contacted each fansite and said "Hey, we would like you to create an ask the devs forum/thread and post non-ranting/constructive questions in it for us, then we can answer", that'd solve that problem. (And I have offered that, numerous times on UOForums, to no reply, hence my rather obvious frustration :p)

And no, I disagree with using one fansite for important information that all UO players should be privvy to.

Here's some examples of what should've been posted either on ALL fansite forums, or on the herald.

http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=156822
and
http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=156005
and
http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=124415
and
http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=153188

I can't remember any of those questions or change notifications being mentioned on the official UO site, and that's just a small selection of threads posted on here by the Devs and no where else.

I do of course appreciate the devs have limited board time, but the point is, that time should be spent serving all UO players, not just the Stratics crowd.

Well, Stratics shouldn't be given exclusivity. Other fan sites should have the right to reprint anything that the Devs say in their official capacity without fear of prosecution for copyright infringement. If Stratics is OK with that, I don't think the Devs should have to locate every single fan site and give them a Q & A session every time that they tell one of the Stratics staff something. After all, Stratics is the site that's used by the majority of the players.

I hope the FoF comes back; it does show that the Devs are at least a little concerned with interacting with us players and getting some feedback about what they are doing.
