Why the hell does an account have to be at least 30 days old before players being able to upgrade/install Mondains Legacy? I could understand a 48 hours wait period but 30 days is a stupid thing to do. The first 24 hour of playing any new game is the time period that gamers use to feel the game out. To decide whether they want to continue playing, stop playing and try again later, or go tell all there friends about how much fun UO is. Now, with this in mind, this 30 day req. is actually a 'policy' or 'rule' that is 'not' in the best interest of the game.
1st - Why would you prevent a new customer from being able to sign up with and join the UO community. I can drive 15-20 min. from my apartment , going in any direction, and be able to purchase a GUN or RIFLE, at most (depending on your state regulations) you will have to wait 2 weeks. But most dealers, especially at gun shows, can do a background check instantly and you can take the firearm home that very same day.
2nd - I have never seen a business that takes money from a customer to buy something/service from them, then tell them you cant use it for 30 days!! Can I write you all a check and demand you to not 'cash it' for 30 days???
3rd - At least once every other day I get hit by telemarketers, trying to sell me crap, trying to offer the best deal, damn near selling at prices that is 'cheap as dirt'. With this in mind, WTF kind of business neglates to train their staff, their customer support, etc. how to setup 'NEW' accounts. Did I miss the press release stating UO is so popular, so profitable, in comparrison to the other online games?
This makes no sense, and its extremely disturbing, because there are only two possible reasons as to why this has happened:
1 * UO has been given a 'death sentence' so to speak, in regards to the online game playing. And to avoid haveing a new customer start playing for a couple of weeks and/or months, it would be devastating to retire UO, thus giving 'new' players only a couple weeks or months of enjoyment. This would devistate any companies reputation to allow new players to emerge knowing the game will be obsolete soon. EA's stupid, half-azd manner of running a game that was legendary in reputiation to borderlying 'trashy game'. So for damage control they only want to pissoff/ruin their veteran customers (some customers with over 10 years of loyalty and dedication) and not new players.
2 * The only alternative to that is the admission of issue, an apology to all that have suffered, some type of retribution, like one month free coverage to customers inconvienced by this. Along with an apology to all players for not putting out the right info. We all make mistakes, but its how you handle thoses mistakes that show your true potential.
I was going to activate my two accounts to get everything updated and ready for the nest expansion. One last try to getback into the game I loved so much for over 10 years. But now I am going to wait till someone from UO Staff responds with which is it? If its a msitake and a bad job of trying to keep it from being known to the public, then I will go ahead and get my accounts activated. If its option #1, then there is no way for me to do anything more than bid everyone fairwell. (Also no response by UO staff will default the answer to 'Option 1'.) No response will also confirm that they not only dont care about the game, that they have been lying about 'We read all legitimate posts on Stratics Forums, we simply do not usually respond to them." Because only a business that is being operated by monkeys would not post a responce, or at the very least a private message.
