What's something good to farm as a newbie that will still sell to older players? Farming ettins isn't making me much ^_^ I don't know what is within my reach that older players might want.
Also, don't have a plot or anything - so is there any sort of commonly accepted way to announce sales? I doubt spamming is common practice, but... I don't know, what's why I'm asking ^^
thanks
If you have the High Seas expansion pack, save up enough money from Ettin farming to buy a Gargoyle ship. Get some cannon, take the Pirate Hunting Quest at the Sea Emporium, and start hunting NPC Pirates in the Jhelom sea. You get a chance of getting 1 of 8 pieces to an Orc Ship deed every time you capture a pirate ship. You may also get a white cloth dye tub... plus the resources you loot can be sold too.
Selling one part of an Orc Ship plan will repay your investment in the ship. I routinely sold completed ship plans for 5mil ea. and the dye tubs for 2mil. I was probably selling them for way less than anyone else and still made a small fortune.
Don't let folks who complain about how expensive salt peter is keep ya from getting into pirate hunting. Just get into it, and you can make money on the High Seas...
...*whispers*... "They" complain about it loudly in order to scare away the competition...
Personally, I find the Solen Queen to kind of rude, maybe she just likes Lady Rachel more then me...
A very easy imbuing ingredient to farm... Chaga Mushrooms. You may have to clear out a couple Silver Serpents or Undead Gargoyle thingies, but usually that back area in the Tomb of Kings stays pretty clear.
As for selling stuff... just list it in your paperdoll profile, then hang out at Luna Bank. Don't over do the spam, but just say "Item's for sale, look at profile..." every couple of minutes. That's a lot less annoying than the folks that spam an entire list of stuff.
You also mentioned you didn't have a house... again, not sure what shard you're on but any shard should have some space for ya. Even if it's just to store items until you have enough to sell. Of course the bank box would work too, until it's full.
Tip: Don't bother with a vendor if you get a house in some remote area... unless you consistenly drop runes and keep those vendors stocked with top-notch items.
Would I be assuming too much if I figured you already knew that you can sell resources to NPC merchants in town? It's a break from Ettin farming and by collecting cotton, wool, stuff dropped in town... you can make a few thousand gold a day.
If you don't have any particular work skills (mining, lumberjacking), you can still farm leather and sell that to tailors.
Tip: Folks like commodities in large quantities. So just save that stuff and put it into a commodity deed when you have enough to attract a serious buyer.
Basically, don't just focus on one thing to make your fortune. I think that's a recipe for getting bored and burned out. This game has hundreds of ways to make gold. (I loot the Daemons I kill and sell the spell scrolls I loot from them).
Good luck!
