What genres do you like the best?
What was your most recent purchased (or pirated) album?
What is your favorite album of 2008?

I like Rap, Hip-hop, Metal, Classic Rock, Classical.

Last album I bought was Ready to Die by B.I.G. which my CD Drive isn't reading but it worked on my friends comp so I can't get it on my itunes lol.

My favorite album of 2008 was NaS' album Untitled.

As a musician, my tastes are a bit eclectic. I mostly listen to some form of rock.
What was your most recent purchased (or pirated) album?
Most recently aquired album was... *thinks*... probably the White Stripes "De Stijl", which I've found I like quite a bit.

What is your favorite album of 2008?
I don't keep up as well as I could, but I am a big Apocalyptica fan and I got that recent one where they collaborated with a lot of rock singers, which was great. Personally, I like Reflections better, but its very good in its own right. I think that was a 2008 release...

My top three albums of all time;

Silverchair's "Diorama"-- To me, the pennicle of Daniel John's creativity, even as its the close to that era of his life. I think its probably one of the most musically complete examples of modern contemporary rock... (If you can find a non-live recording of "Tuna in the Brine", you'll see what I mean.) Which you really don't expect from a band that got famous off grunge.

Metallica's "... And Justice for All"-- A very emotional album, with some stunning guitar work and a message very compatible with the times both then and now. An immortal example of Rock 'n Roll.

J.S. Bach's "The Art of Fugue"-- Easily one of the most remarkable works of counterpoint theory ever concieved, as pleasurable to the ear as it is boggling to the mind on the theoretical level.

Silverchair and Metallica, and claiming to be an eclectic-taste musician.

Hey, I can go on and ramble about all the various bands I like, too. He asked for favorites, I gave favorites. I'm not so pompus that I've got to list every single band I've ever liked a song by like half the people with MySpace accounts. I love how judgemental you music nazi's can be.

But hey, if you wanna fling mud...

I'm also a really big fan of Theodor *******'s Pustota, a russian fusion band, most of the stuff by Bela Fleck (especially Perpetual Motion), Rasputina, I believe I mentioned Apocalyptica, Stephen Bennet (a folk fingerstyle harp-guitar player), Ikue Asazaki (a singer of the Ryukyu tradition who blends japanese folk and "new age") and of course the classics such as Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and so on (though Mostart is a bit up-beat for my tastes generally, and I think the classical british over do the brass).

I love Van Halen, the Zep, Jimmi, Clapton and most other guitar rock, its what I cut my teeth on. I'm a HUGE fan of Opeth-- I'd have to say Ghost Reveries is my favorite metal album all around, and Opeth my favorite metal band with Lamb of God coming in a close second.

I think I mentioned I've followed Silverchair since Frogstomp, and they're sort of a pet obsession, but I'm big into other bands from the era including (of course) Alice in Chains, Nirvana (I maintain that Bleach is their best stuff), Soundgarden (Down on the Upside 4tw) and their like.

I'm not a huge fan of rap, but have listened to it occasionally. I own Graduation by Kanye West, and have liked what I've heard by Jay-Z though haven't been motivated to aquire any of it. I got on an R&B kick for a little bit, but quickly got tired of it.

I've performed professionally in the classical guitar, fingerstyle guitar, rock, bluegrass guitar and bluegrass mandolin genres around Nashville, mostly durring highschool as I lost contact with most of my musician buddies when I moved to my wife's home state of Ohio. I broke three fingers on my frethand and haven't played as well since, but I still do it as a hobby.

I believe I mentioned I mostly favored rock, and so it should be no suprise that's where my favorites tend to be. I'm quite sure I could keep going, but I think I've listed things enough to satisfy and its kind of tedious.

May I suggest, NaS, K-OS, Ill Bill, The Roots (they are a band), Eminem, Public Enemy. Those are just to name a few. Very good artists.
