How do you spend the majority of your time? Other than running events/em events what do you most enjoy doing?

I have played since 1997, not gming my first skill until 2001. I enjoy merchanting. Whether its buying low selling higher or selling crafted goods, i've always been a merchant.

What do you most enjoy doing with your time?

the scary thing about this game is that there is just so much stuff to do.

i as well have been here since they turned the lights on and i have yet to go out and do the fishing quests or get the special fish or make the baits and all the stuff.
i have meant to do it, i think it would be interesting and at some point i will, but i have yet to do it.

currently when my guild-mates are not online i find myself doing T-maps.

i went through a phase where i went and got all the 8 virtues knight level.
then i went through a phase where i wanted to get every available title you could get in game.
i always seem to find little side missions to do.
bone armor.... oh my beloved bone armor!
actually ALL the armor sets in game, i collected all of those, that was fun, took years.

historically character development has been my fetish.
i enjoy going to a new shard and making new characters, completing them, then moving on.
but as with most things eventually you run out of shards.
but there is something to be said for being able to log into any shard in the game and have 21 fully developed characters at your disposal all fully developed and suited up and ready to go.
i think i spent a lot of time last year getting pets all fully trained on my 3 tamers per shard to make sure they where all 100%.

and don't tell anyone, but i may have opened up a 4th account last year and started making more characters again.
we can keep that between just us, right?

I am also addicted to watching skills rise and building chars on multiple shards.

it really depends on my mood.

if I want to do something calming... I start to do BODs or I go out doing SOS

if I want to stop from thinking about things... I need a distraction. I go collect 200-300 of tribal berry or foil. (when there aren't events going on) This I really need to do. It is always good to have plenty when needed. Except tribal berry are always needed for BODs

With what little time I have, I entertain myself by trying to entertain others. That would be my favorite UO pastime. It's acting out pointless skits these days, roleplaying. Holding events in the past.

If anyone needs a backup character for an event/skit let me know.

I also do enjoy the older peerless. I've been meaning to take a run at some of the content from the last ten years but I'm lazy.

Oh, I am working on fishing. Slowly. That's kinda fun. I tried sneaking aboard the SS McDougle during the 6th trip through the fish monger quest but was apprehended and promptly tossed overboard. He doesn't take kindly to stowaways, especially when they are caught after raiding his alcohol stores. I may have eaten some important fish as well. *Shrugs*

I've been collecting musical instruments for a while now.

Trying to get 450 Use instruments of every slayer type, 900 use variants of player crafted one's, all the coloured variants, and any rare one's going too. I have a few which unusually have more than 450 uses, but I also have an oddball tambourine with 504 uses and is also called "A Magic Tambourine". What's magical about it, maybe I'll never know.

Hopefully the chance to create maximum use items is equal to all other values? Otherwise you'll be churning out a lot of tooling, hehe. Good luck with the collecting \o/

Large pvp fights in faction use to be so fun,
Light demons that destroyed Mag and made rubble was the best event ever,
You use to be able to mark a rune before you placed a keep and you could gate people into those boxed areas and kill them because they couldn't get away.(that was so fun)
But now I mostly just jump around and do different stuff, pvm stuff or just continue to make characters on other shards that I'll never use

'Ello friends,

The Red Dragon Inn serves up juicy burgers and bottomless fries all day, every day.
And don't forget to wash it all down with a nice frosty mug of our legendary ale! :)

Sincerely,

Olaf Honeybeard [INN]

I have traveled to your land once with intention of stopping at The Red Dragon Inn but alas, the island problem. I had neither a boat nor the skill to sail one. I just got blackout drunk at some dive in Britain, woke up as I fell from the roof of the tinkers shop, and left for home.
I would like to return someday but will need to find passage. Perhaps I can charter a port call on the SS McDougle?
If you ever make it onboard please steal his rock lobsters. He's gotten every single one on the shard.
The trap is now set. I'll just wait for him to accept and raid his live well. Free the rock lobsters! We shan't allow him to upset the ecosystem just to feed his avaricious soul.

My favorite part of UO is building characters. I spread them across shards and like trying all sorts of combinations of skills, gear, masteries, and various differences. Most are inn dwellers as my homes are consolidated. But that's my favorite part. I am enjoying NL too as a side diversion building tamers to eventually move to other shards.

I sometimes like messing around with Hire-able NPC's, make them fight the invasion hordes and stuff. I had two NPC's called Cole and Annamarie, both swordsman, who were surviving well in their mission to protect the Healers house - that's a fun thing to do sometimes,. It's like "protect the fort", and helps players get actually-rez'd rather than rez-killed if they come to it. Anyway, Cole was doing such a great job (Annamarie died... first) so I tried to reward him with a random Head looted from a fallen paragon, while legit not expecting this unintentionally comical response. I should clarify, Cole was fighting bravely, soon-to-die by hands of the invading horde while I was trying to bring the head to him. He missed out on the head, which Tanner instead had the joy of receiving.

I only have a 300-use scribe's pen and a 150-use mortar & pestle. After those I probably got distracted by something else. It would've been over 10 years ago when I got that idea.

I always thought it would be cool if a warrior could make a fighting companion. Build them a template, raise their skills, and give them gear and weapons. Similar to how a tamer builds a pet!

I been involved in acquiring and trading goods my 27 years!! With all my time being spent on the seas I fish and defend the oceans from pirates, while smuggling my own goods! As a privateer I now am building a fishing, ocean & pirate musuem on Atlantic to tell the tales of the sea and share UO history and lore!

My favorite thing is not a single thing, but it's the ultimate result of UO being a sandbox MMORPG - so what my favorite thing is, is when I get enthusiasm for a new thing I wanna achieve and set out to achieve it. Basically, when a quest self-generates in my head. This can be a new template I wanna try out and thus have to train skills, get gear, test out... or a new animal to train... or decide I wanna re-decorate a part of my house... or am exploring a side of UO I never have, even though I started at T2A release. For example, I never used to use boats and fish... Then in 2016 I decided to make a pirate, and had a whole bunch of new adventures.

This is the coolest thing about UO and the extent to which it allows for this sets it apart from the heavy-handed themepark MMORPGs.

There are many things I like to do. The priority is always playing with the tamers going to the Dungeons to kill monsters. I also like to go to the sea to take the Chests and use the T-Hunter. I have more than an account and I have tried to do all types of warrior even if archery is always my favorite. But then I get tired and go back to my tamer. I don't like the sorceress and all the char who have magic, like necro, ninja and bushido. However, there is always something interesting, it depends on the period :)

I mostly enjoy trying to solo peerless monsters or other boss-like monsters (I don't even care that some don't have any good or useful drops, I just enjoy it). However, I probably actually spend most of my time preparing my character's armor (obtaining required resources and attempting to craft it) or seeking right equipment and thinking strategy than actually fighting boss monsters. Due to lack of time in real life these days mainly focus on optimizing and building around one main character, all my other chars are just mule/crafting chars to support it or very outdated characters that I haven't touched in years.

I used to also have phases where I'd enjoy and spend a lot of time decorating my UO home, but I haven't done that in a while also due to lack of time.

Another thread on here recently mentioned a talisman which is only acquired from Shadowguard in Eoden; I realised I had never seen or tried that content, makes me want to check it out, even if means solo'ing it. Many years ago I collected the keys to solo Monstrous Interred Grizzle too, it was a failed attempt but I might give it a go once again, just for the fun. We all have higher DPS these days and other tricks up our sleeves, so maybe I'll win.

This sorta happened to me this week too. My suit remains static and unchanged for long periods of time, but I started adjusting my suit with new jewelry (I was getting irritated repairing antiques all the time, not usually an issue but the recent city invasions prompted it) and it was taking quite a while to re-balance my suit stats. It felt just like EVE Online, when trying to tailor new ship configurations. It is a fun process to work through.

Ah yes a Cameo. Assuming you are using a Sampire? It's possible to solo Shadowguard (aka "the roof"), but make sure to read up on the strategy to do this as there are 4 bosses and each has a slightly different thing to look out for (ie Anon polymporphs into an element based on damaged received which will regen his HP if that type is still used).

You are correct though that with all the updates, many things that were virtually impossible to solo 10 years ago (outside of the very elite players) are now something the average player can usually take on. This is the case for Sampire but also tamers too as new pets have been introduced and suits have stacked on mana/MR to make holding masteries possible. Again, just make sure you are reading up on strategies before going in because each boss has a different approach.

These days, settling back in on Atlantic after spending the last 5 years on Formosa, and before that 7 years away from the game. Designing and decorating homes for other players, crafting runebooks, and forging 100% elemental weapons for others to imbue as they like takes up time. Also, I just like doing it. Have also taken to exploring all of Atlantic again, both Trammel and Felucca facets, hitting about 75 percent of the houses all around, just to see who is still about. With the new house I just secured today, one that I had always wanted in Felucca from way back, that will occupy time as I just enjoy fixing it up.

I've been playing since beta. My first GM skill was Inscription. It really sucked to lose that .1 every so often and have to skill it back up.
Completely agree with @Poo - there is just so much to do. One of the reasons I have come back.
Met my wife playing UO.
I love fishing, mining, lumberjacking, making suits- taking a couple of pieces and building the suit around them. Sure- could save time using the same cookie cutter most people use. Me? I like crafting thousands of pieces to get the perfect one. Made 2 Wood Sampire Suits enhanced with Heartwood BEFORE the release of the forged metal of artifacts. I enjoy sitting back with my 4x120 Bard just playing songs, burning through champ spawns with Tamer/Sampire/Whammy/Necro-Bard, sitting back while sailing the seas drinking Seagrams Coolers and pretending to fish.
