What is the use of "Renowned" monsters??

I noticed, that at several spots in the abyss, you can improve the spawn.
So far I found the goblins, ratmen and skeletals.
Anyone got anything special of the renowned end creatures?
I mean, they are really strong, take a while to kill, and have CRAP loot!

Why should a player fight those?

I just killed the ribbon clan chieftain with my mage wich took me at least 15 mins (ev´s and fireballs) and my loot was:
about 300gp
4 other wep/armor pieces with crap mods
some bloodmoss

I think time ran out and the loot on these guys (and maybe their stats too) didn't get all the polish they needed before Tuesday's publish. Don't write these off yet or take them for granted.

I hope so, because the 15000 (or more) hp I met yesterday took me a looooong time with a 150dmg/hit dexxer, and had no loot whatsoever (unless you count 35 gp and 4 wheels of cheese as loot =))

I killed a red ratman, Rakktavi I think his name is, sure his loot sucks, but he did have one yard of Abyssal Cloth, (same color as the robe you get from Tyballs Shadow)

You thought wrong. So far I have pulled a few diff oddities off these...including a full jar for starters.

Right now they seem to be a big thing to kill before going back to killing for imbuing ingredients.

At least some of them are interesting to kill.

They are intended to have special loot. Think illshenar arties. If they are not dropping maybe there is something broken. I'm think the abyss works on the doom system.

I killed one of the Renowned rats when I was trying to get cloth. I dont know about you guys but after I kept throwing EVs at it and they kept getting dispelled, I started using earth eles and casting on it while the earth eles bashed it. It took me almost 2 hours to kill it. My lightning spell did about 30 damage and I would prolly hit it at least 30 times between each earth ele summon. I killed the Dark Father on my mage once a long time ago and this is about how long it took me . I got about 300 gold and some junk armor that I threw in my imbuewing bag

Eh, maybe it's a new monster damage type: "Psychological."
Players kept asking for better monster AI, now they got it
