what is so good about the battle mage tunic plz???

thinking of making a mage suit and it seems most go with the battle mage tunic...i cant see why its any better than what u can craft at 1/4 of the price??

battle mage tunic... cast focus 3.. mr2... lmc8 ...lrc10 ..sdi 5....10/16/10/8/8
crafted/imbued tunic...mr2..lmc8....8 mana increase.....lrc xx ....xx/xx/xx/xx/xx

does the sdi and cast focus make it so much better than the 8 mana increase and xx lrc and xx resists u can add to a crafted/imbued tunic???????????

I was asking myself this question all over again - it´s an "Okay"-Item, but no Kick-Ass. But I don´t know anybody arguing that it would be THE ultimate item. Nevertheless, I am happy about every single drop und would love to have it in my collection - just because it has such a coooool name

anyone else....have a view....the battle mage seem to be around 6-8m yet a crafted one can be less than 1m.....depnding on imbued additions maybe 2m tops.....is 5 sdi really so much better than 8 mana increase with much better lrc and much better resists???? dont add up...

Its not the best tunic out there, but having SDI on your suit lets you put different mods on your jewels. The Casting focus also is pretty nice when fighting. Its already easy to get 100 lrc, and all 70s corpse proof, the only other benefit THP stated was a crafted tunic with 8 Mana Inc which really is not as good as casting focus and SDI.

Friends of mine who play mages say that when the focus works it's worth the reduced mods. I have it on a few suits but I'm a crap mage so I'm not worthy.

is the runebeetle caprice a better option..very low resists but lmc15 with mana increase 10 and mana regen 3....its just making those bloody awefull low resists back up to the 70s on other pieces...or is thee another tunic iam over looking??

Depends what your going to do with it...For PVM I use it for the SDI, My suits up to 112 SDI now..and i think the max SDI you can get now is 118%. For PVP you would be better off using a crafted tunic.

I use a Rune Beetle Carapace on my Mystic/Mage because at 50 Mana a shot, getting 40 LMC is essential and I have 185 Mana. Resists, LRC, MI, SDI and HPI are all easy to add on other items depending on your play style. If I need additional SDI, I throw on a Kasa with 12 SDI and great resists. It's not that one item is better than the other, you have to take into account your skill levels, play style and what your fighting.

I have recently started selling off most of my high end artifact weapons and armor, for this same reason.

I have seen players spend 20million on a piece of artifact gear, that will give them a few points they can get with an imbued piece for 100k. I keep a few items like spirit of the totem, crimson, quiver of infinity. But I have found that shopping for imbued pieces gives me a lot more flexibility, and I just top off my suit with a few artifact pieces.

casting focus paired with inscription is incredible. further paired with resonance, mages can cast uninterrupted a decent amount of the time. comes in use, but you heavily rely on RNG, which isn't reliably great in PvP but still CAN work.

In my eyes its the artifacts that add something that you can't imbue on that matter the most. I have found that for the most part the resists are so terrible that it doesn't make sense for example the RBC gives that 15 LMC and 10 mana increase and 3 mana regen. That’s good, but the resist are terrible. To make up for that your going to need to up 3 resists with imbuing on another piece. For those three properties you can average out 16 LMC (8 each) and far more mana increase and mana reg. I tend to use crafted pieces for what I use. Unless that is it has a stat I need for my dexxer you will have to pry away from my cold dead hands my two arties (spirit of the totem and Jackal’s Collar). Or bring out something better then I will switch!

battle mage is good for the reasons promathia stated, specifically on a PvP mage where you're going for the 30 SDI but don't want to give up the 25 DCI from faction folded steel for it.

I actually prefer using enchanted kelp woven legs, and they are quite a bit cheaper.

I do use both the kelp leggins and the protector for my necro. That being said for non pvp mages you could go the cheaper made stuff route. Its really about if you already have them. I was running liche a lot so I had more then I could use. So I did.

well the kelp legs seem a deffo....and they are sooo cheap..its not even worth looking at any other legs........on a casting mage anyways.....not sure what the 2nd deffo piece would be....possible the pendant of the magi.....2 out the 6 bare bones suit pieces....leave a nice 4 for craft/imbuing purposes????
