[General] What is "SE" plate armor ?

I have been spending time trying to learn about crafting and in some crafting posts, I have seen "SE" plate armor as mentioned... is SE short for something ? What is this particular plate and why is it helpfull over regular plate ?

Ah thanks... but that Mage Armor property that is by default, does it work "against" the 500 imbuing weight or is it "extra" the imbuing weight as if it is a "free" added property which does not reduce the 500 remaining imbuing weight ?

Then, for a Template that needs medable armor, using Samurai expansion plate helps nothing in having "more" modifiers on that suit when all pieces of that SE suit where to cost imbuing weight for the mage property....

I frankly do not understand why it is then suggested to be used for medable armor crafting....

Is it not better to then go with leather armor from start ?

It is medable and does not cost imbuing weight for the mage property....
