What is going on with housing?

I am trying to customize a house for a friend. I have been super careful to not have any orange tiles and to make it structurally sound. Every time I try to commit the design it says it isn't structurally sound and to get rid of orange tiles. The first 20 times that I tried to commit last night. I had to keep deleting the roof items that I put on the first floor. They would NOT delete. I would delete go to another floor, look down and there they would be again. I did it a million times, so frustrated. I finally went to blank state on the house and started it up again. So, today I again redid the house, put a few roof stuff on the fourth floor, went to the first floor, came back up to the fourth and it deleted the roof.

I am pretty sure it's the roofing or this spot is just all kinds of bugged out. The sign says house is placed properly. This reallly sucks. I just want to commit the fraking design. Anyone know?? Yes, we placed a ticket, they said to report it as a bug.

The first question I'd ask is if you are doing this in 2D or the enhanced client? I know there were, at one time, some problems in the enhanced client with erased tiles not really being erased and that would cause the problem you describe.

While I really like the enhanced client, I'd suggest swapping to 2D for house deco unless this has been fixed and I'm just not aware of it.

Yeah... as AnneNomilly's saying, if you're doing this in the Enhanced Client, my suggestion would be to log in on the 2D client. If you prefer the EC, that's fine, but some things have not been extensively tested, and there are several issues with the housing portion of the EC at the moment.

If you're in 2D, I'm not sure if you turn your computer off at night or not, but my suggestion would be to close UO completely and then log back in again. Sometimes in the 2D client, the buffer holds onto stuff that it shouldn't and it makes house design a pain. But I've never had it happen after a fresh restart of UO.

Sarsmi has answered this for a couple folks now that I have seen... including myself. Tiles not appearing to delete is a memory issue... sort of related to the issue where fel house will bleed over to tram if you travel back and forth. In the client, set your housing cahe to 0 then completely shutdown and restart uo.

I have to do the above a few times if I spend a very long time in custom mode. Link to more info:
