What happens to stabled pets upon quitting?

Am going to take a break from UO for awhile and have already moved all important items to characters and their respective bank boxes. But what happens to the pets stabled on my tamer's character? Do I need to unstable my best pet, have it follow me, log out of the bank, and then cancel my account?? Or can I leave them stabled and cancel the account WITHOUT losing them??

You can quit for a while and your pets will be safe in the stables aslong as you have gold in your bank box.

Id make sure you cash your checks as sometimes theirs problems and stable masters dont take payment from your checks and thus you lose your pets.

I think its something daft like 24g per RL week so they should be there when you get back.

If you have no gold in bank box then they will only be safe untill the end of the last week the stable master took payment, after that they are deleted from the game.

I thought I read somewhere that said there is no renewal fee any longer, but I'm not sure ... better to be safe than sorry I guess!

Sometimes when I log in and dismount my horse the horse is auto-stabled, it is really weird. Like I turned into Lich Form on my necro on Pac, and the horse just poofed and I had to log in and out again. Weird system.

Gold is taken from your pack or your bank box upon stabling your pet. Went on vacation for almost 2 months and do extra gold was removed from my bank box. Lots of people take breaks from UO and do not lose thier pets. With 16 pets I think I would notice gold being removed from my bank box every week.

People have lost pets using the auto stable log-out. Always be on the safe side and stable before logging out.

I quit for 5 years and all my pets were still there. I totally stripped my accounts, there was no gold to take out.
