[Imbuing] what does this mean?

i finally decided to sit down and start into Imbuing.

and i had no problems going from 40-50 with leather caps and then ripping them up.

at 50.1 i switched over to daggers and put luck on them.
i then went to rip them up and got a message saying

"You can not magically unravel this item. The magic in this item has been weakened due to either low durability or the imbuing process"

now, being new to this im kinda stuck.... am i doing something wrong or can you not rip up the daggers you imbue?

i havnt read anything about this, so excuse me if it has allready been asked.

My :guess: is that's part of the 60.1 change that lowered the return of ingredients from unraveling imbued things. Sounds like the item in question might have given 1 residue prior to the patch and now will yield nothing.

i think your right.
i tried again at a higher level when there was more intensaty and they where able to rip up.
not the lower ones, the higher ones.

im guessing the lower one would not have given back enough to make a full residue.

tks bro.

That's why the guides suggest you use daggers that are exceptionally crafted by a Grandmaster of Arms Lore, so that the weapons start with 80% property intensity (from 40% DI) before you add a second property during training.

I'm still a novice when it comes to imbuing, so this has me a tiny bit stumped. I got the same message Poo described ("You cannot magically unravel this item. The magic in this item has been weakened due to either low durability or the imbuing process"). However, the item I'm trying to unravel is a boomerang I just looted from a toxic slith. The only mod on it is +1 Luck.

I guess getting this message for this item really just means the item is too awful to unravel (i.e., won't give at least one magical residue).

I too have seen this. It has been around since Imbuing was introduced.

There are 2 situations I get that message: One is if the item is too damaged, usually 0/36 durabilty. The 36 is arbitrary, the 0 is the important part. If you repair it, you can unravel it.

The other time was also, with 1 luck on a non-exceptional item. My bet is that UO "rounds down" with only 1 luck, making the item appear to have no mods at all. (or something like this) Luck is the only mod that has 1% incriments.
