I am wondering on what people keep. All colored cu's? One of each high end monster? Please enlighten me

At the moment i have a few cu's (high is 3.7) and a Wyrm 4.1 with almost max resists and max HP.

Ah that's a good question, it's always soooo hard to decide what to keep and what to give away.
And never enough stable slots ;)

I have 2 kind of pets, the strong ones that I use most of the time to hunt :

2 normal Cu's 4.4
2 GD 4.4 but each has weaknesses and I'm still looking for the perfect one. Those will go then.
1 Nightmare 3.8 he has almost perfect skills, the stats are nice.
1 Rune Beetle 3.5 he should have better dex and a little bit more of poisoning, so I'm still looking for a better one.
1 Bake Kitsune 4 that is still not bonded.I'll see later if I need to look for a better one or not.

And those I keep because I like having one of each or they are colored. I use them for fun or against very specific mobs that I know they can handle :

2 rare colored Cu's, 3.2 more or less that will never hunt the most dangerous mobs
1 WW 4.4
1 unicorn 3.7
1 fire steed 3.7

And I'm still looking for a good Hiryu and the 4 rare colored cu's I'm missing.

The Cu's are the hardest because I would like them to be at least 3 on the pet calc
With 120 vet that means that I'm able to hunt some with them and keep them alive.
Of course if I'm lucky enough to find a blaze I wont care :D

I have a second tamer that will take the pets I can't keep for lack of room.
And when I can I give some away.

Lets currently in my tamers stables I have two greater dragons that are both 4.2 on the pet calc. I also have two normal Cu Sidhes both I think are rated 4.3 or higher. I have two 4.0 or above Bakes and one 4.0 Rune beetle.

I've got a lot of sentimental tames in my stable in addition to the utilitarian beasts

2 GD's [3.3] and [3.4]
1 Cu Sidhe [2.8]
1 Dread [3.2]
1 Rune Beetle [4.0]
1 Nightmare [3.6]
1 White Wyrm (first tame) [4.2]
1 Dragon (first tame) [4.0]
1 Frenzie (first tame) [4.1]
1 pack beetle

I never ran any of my pets through the calculator before, and never paid attention to the stats on any of them except the GD's. I'm surprised the Cu is so poorly rated, although he is a nice color, and pleasently surprised that the Rune ranked well. I basically trade out the GD's as I find better ones

I had the same surprise when I first used the pet calc.
I don't think any of my actual pets are the same than those I had then.
They were sooo bad !

Cu's are strong pups, and against a well chosen mob (no fire/poison casting) once they have high skills they are killers, even the "poor" ones.
It's when you find a very good one and compare that you are able to see the difference ;)

And If you're a mage tamer or a disco tamer you should be able to manage at least as well as my peace tamer with a weaker pet.
Peace tamer are completely dependent of their pets and need them to be as strong as possible.
Of course, the strongest the best for any tamer, but it's even more important for a peace tamer IMO.

I won't try to guess quantities (I have too many tamers)

old school dragons
nightmares
unicorns
white wyrms
kitsune (lots of!)
rune beetles
hellcats (large and small)
frenzies
reptalon
dreads
greater hiryu

I'm sure I've missed some lol.

I can't remember the last time I hunted with a cu, but I do have a trained one stabled and a few coloured ones I haven't rehomed yet.

A trained and a newbie greater drag that I got when they first came out...I need to train them and then both will get sold on, just haven't got round to it. I've tried to like them, but they're still too poweful for me to enjoy. So yeah, I'll probably be the only tamer on Europa who has old school draggies instead of greaters hehe.

how in the world could anyone grind up 31 tamer toons
omg. im at 5+ months and my tamer isnt even complete.
Three of them are at 120 real taming; three are between 110 and 120 real taming; eight are between 100 and 109.9 and of those two are finished because I locked their taming at 102 and 100, respectively; ten are between 90.0 and 99.9 and of those three are finished with their taming locked at 95.0 or 90.0; two are in the 80s; and the other five are somewhere between 50.0 and 79.9.

Once they hit 100.0 real taming, I just try to take them out daily for a gain, usually taming a dragon or two; although that slows down to about once every other day when they hit 115 and once every third day when they hit about 117. The ones that are below 100 taming either get one gain for the day or I put jewelry on to get them in the 104-108 taming range and tame unicorns for an hour or so. If I can't get their taming up to that range, then they tame brown bears, polar bears, snow leopards, white wolves, bulls, or gamans for an hour or two.

I have tailors on the same shards that I also need to train, so I can always use the leather from taming. I usually end up with 30,000 to 35,000 regular leather by the time I switch over to taming unicorns. And then I turn in the horned leather and any barbed leather to get the Birds of Britannia talisman and after I have that, save the horned and barbed leather for the tailor. I guess not having much gold and having a use for all that leather is a good motivator for me to keep up with the taming. Another motivator was the feeling of freedom I got when the first tamer hit 120 real taming and I could put whatever darn jewelry on her that I wanted to.

Some of those characters have very specialized non-tamer skills because I use them for base defense in factions...they have great skills for guarding sigils and finding and killing stealthers. Those characters, though, are not good for taking out to hunt peerless because their mana regen is truly awful. So I've got multiple tamers on a couple of shards. I've also got one tamer that is also a stealth herder. She's one of four tamers I have on a particular shard.

I guess I just enjoy the process of training the characters, especially starting them out brand new on a shard where I have nothing else. They start with 50 taming and 50 magery and 1000 gold. Where some people enjoy collecting stuff and merchanting, I enjoy building a peace tamer from scratch and seeing how long it takes to get them to the point where they can go out and tame just about any tameable in the game. (They're usually human so they can't tame cu sidhe.)

I don't keep a pet unless it's worth keeping. At minimum, my tamers have a greater, a cu, a mare, a rune beetle, and a bake. I also have a couple dreads.

Rarely does a fire steed or reptalon see the inside of my stables - and even then, not for long.

I like to think of myself as a pretty hard core tamer, but I read posts from these two and I realize I'm just a wet-behind-the-ears dabbler... :)

OT: Tina, how much experience have you had hunting with the boura? Are any of them fully trained? Have you noticed anything special about them?

I keep one of each of the big tameables, plus I'll usually have one or two extra of whatever my current project is. Right now it's nightmares, and I have one of those that will be traded to someone else once I'm finished training it, one I'm keeping, and one for another potential sale.

I don't remember what I have in there... but..

-Several Cu's of different colors... white, ice blue, red, pink... still waiting on my blaze and I don't want a black.
-I think I have 2 or 3 greater dragons... the first one I ever got (was tamed and gifted) and two that I tamed myself...
-My beloved Dread Warhorse... greatest pet in the game and my absolute favorite!
-A high end Nightmare... tame/killed for hours to get it... can't remember what it calcs at though...
-A greater Mongbat almost GM everything for an event tourn.
-A Whitewyrm... sentimental reasons.. my first higher end dragon.
-2 Plague rats from when you could tame them in the Cavern.
-A Fire Steed
-A Unicorn

I can't remember what else... I have two tamers and neither stable is full.
