Alright so I'm back again.
I've only been back a few days and already
I don't know what to do in uo.

I guess I'm sort of old school when it comes to hunting,
I enjoyed T-hunting, dungeoncrawling or killing paragons.
I would go to the gauntlet on occasion for a good 'ol
dissapointment and I understand people solo that place
in like 30 minutes now. uhhh..

So where can a guy go to have some quiet fun time
killing monsters where I might also find some items worth
enhancing or whatever. I remember I did alot of treasure
hunts last time I visited but I found the chests seemed to
be pretty much a waste of time compared to the crafting
these days and having lost all my bods I'm not too keen
on re-taking that as my main past-time right at first.

I'm not very interested in exploring. I've never explored all
the new lands and I don't much care to. Old lands were
always good enough for me. I just want to try and find that
excitement again where I can spend hours somewhere
hoping for something good to drop but I Can't seem to find
anywhere dropping anything worth hunting for.

I don't care for todays PvP in the least.

Any suggestions to fun stuff to do?
I got just about every character though warrior tends to
be my favourite.

As a PvM'ers you've probably set goals for yourself (selling items for gold, biggest challenge monster-wise). Depending on that goal, you'll find some things have changed in nowaday's game. This is mostly because of the implementation of the skill imbuing...

Also, treasure maps are currently on the dev list for some tender loving care. See the producer's notes on the UO website, they're working on an upgrade, plus a new, undisclosed thing which is said to spice things up...

Back to your question, this here is my personal opinion about it, others might feel differently, but as far as I'm concerned, imbuing caused some big shifts for PvM. You'll find that your best PvM found loot won't cut it compared to the best imbued items. They made it so that exceptionally crafted items have an imbuing weight of 500, while normal crafted items and loot have 450 imbuing weight. So unless you are looking for lootpieces to enhance for personal use, I wouldn't bother with looted armor to enhance...

Weapons and jewelry still hold a certain value. Though the imbuing weight of looted weapons is 450, try and find weapons with maxed, or near maxed out mods that can be imbued further. I.e. spell channeling no penalty weapons: that's two (sc + the no -1 penalty) imbuing mods, three more mods can be added. Or be on the lookout for slayers and superslayers which you can enhance...

Jewelry is not affected by the 450 imbuing weight rule. Both normal and exceptional jewelry has an imbuing weight of 500. Again, try and look for pieces with maxed out mods that can be imbued further, like rings and bracelets with 1 FC together with 2 or 3 FRC and no other mods...

If you use the above method to filter through your treasure map loot, you'll significantly cut down on the ammount of pieces you'll take along. More often than not I go home without any keepers after doing a t-map. I do however take all the "junk" pieces (brackets, because one man's junk is another man's treasure) and unravel them all with my imbuer. I then sell the residue and essence on my vendor as an added bonus to my t-hunter's income...

Anyway, alternative things to do or to hunt, now that loot hunting has become more or less obsolete...

Depending on the character you wish to use, and since I don't really know what you consider to be "old lands", but if you're only talking about Trammel/Felucca and possibly T2A, you could try champs with an online friend. They have been altered to give Scrolls of Transendence (gives you a fixed ammount of gains in skills) and special items as rewards (deco items, which hold plenty of value). If you really want to solo things, you could try doing the champs solo, but might find it difficult to get past certain stages. Slayer weapons / spellbooks help a lot though...

I've personally enjoyed Khaldun hunting; the ancient liches there are a fun fight, and the rules upon you or your pets dying there are pretty harsh, so quite a challenge, plus you can get t-maps from the puzzle chests...

Mining for special resources, while hacking away at the ore spots with gargoyle pickaxes is still fun to do. Even more so if you do it in Ilshenar and you manage to spawn a paragon valorite elemental. I've entertained myself with the heartwood quests lately while raising up lumberjacking and bowcraft/fletching...

Miasma hunting, but that's in Malas... you can get a few level 6 treasure maps, which are still fun to do, in my opinion. Or joining the peerless board hunts, see the forum, there's a post about them starting up again, try your hands at some of the peerless bosses, always a fun thing to do...

Good thing about UO is that there's a ton of stuff to do. Hope you'll find something to suit your taste...
