What can cause ship damage

Hi,

I was doing MIB last night on my Orc ship and it got "slightly damaged" and had to be repaired with wood and cloth. I was attacked by water ele, sea serpents, and an NPC Orc ship that only shot arrows from an archer at me. The Orc ship never fired any cannons. I read that Orc ships take damage easily, but what else can damage a ship? Do they get damaged just from use just like they need to be refreshed?

Thanks, Katrena

I think that besides cannon fire (sometimes I wonder if NPC ships fire them unnoticed), there is a certain amount of wear and tear incorporated into the ownership of these new ships. Since the patch that removed scuttling in Trammel, I ran my ship in pristine condition. Previous encounters with water ellies and sea serpents did no damage to my ship. However, I logged in one time and found my ship to be "slightly damaged". I took this to be that a good amount of time had passed since my ship had been docked, and as a result required some upkeep. I like this feature as owning and operating a ship does require a certain amount of maintenance.

Heck, even the paints are fading after 2 weeks.

Oh well, I drivveled long enough on this point. I can't remember where I read it, but I do recall this was in the Dev notes during testing or prior to release.
