You have a base chance of getting a Minor artifact/Dye/Blackrock (blackrock is a bug as it was part of ToT II but shouldn't be in ToT III)

The chance is modified by your Luck score and the Fame level of the creature you kill.

Each creature you kill adds a certain percentage to your base chance on the next kill you make (cumulative).

When you get a Minor drop, the base chance resets and you start over.

You can use the Minors accordingly (except the Chest of Heirlooms*) and/or turn them in to an NPC in Zento for a choice of a set of Major artifacts (10 Minors = 1 Major)

*Chest of Heirlooms cannot be turned in if it is unlocked and opened (items inside tend to be lower level, so unless you have a specific need for low level items and the chest as a chest, best to not worry about opening it).

I would dispute this part .... (No not you saying it, but the assertion in the rules)

I was down in the Fan Dancer Dojo's Balron room. I killed at least 50 of those guys and never had a drop. Not a single drop, I did get a lot of needed Fame and Karma Back though and between 75K and 80K gold.

I left and went back to the Tsuki Wolves and had 2 maybe 3 Drops and about 50K Gold, by killing around 50 Wolves.

If the UO Team really thinks that is the way the script should be working then they may want to do a review of it .......

Yeah, the theory and practice may be a bit off overall (thus the second statement in my "superstitions" thread).

I have to say that the Yomotsu mines have been treating me pretty well tonight, no, I'm not getting a drop every 5 minutes, but the drops are happening and I have my location well under control (not to mention sending a LOT of gold to the bank which will fund other purchases).

Best ToT advice I can give is to find a spot that is comfortable for your character and stick with it.

I agree, I started at the Mines and killed a ... crap load of stuff and didn't get anything. I walked around the island letting the Greater Kill anything it wanted to. I think I got a Pale Blue dye from the Revnant Lions/Skeleton types.

I kept on walking and remembered the Wolves so I cut on over to them and *Shrug* it was GREAT Bone collecting and I did want them, now I have 1500+ Bones, more than enough, I think. Good gold and a number of dyes (3 Pale Blue in total). I even got a Gloves of the Sun (Sun Gloves?) which along with the Swords of Prosperity are the only drops I want. I will take as many of each as I can get my hands on.

BUT all said and done the Balron down there was by fare the better place. Good Fast Spawn, Good Gold and great Fame/Karma. I may even start doing the Honor thing down there. Meaning I am goind to retry it tomorrow and see if it was just a sad streak of the PRNG.

Grumbles about the Guy not taking the Small Black Rock and it being a drop and all :(

I've gotten a few dyes, several of the Lotus hood and Daimyo helm among other things, no chests or blackrock though (thankfully), but no Mempo either (which is currently the only "keeper" item I'm really looking for.

I already have the Majors I want from ToT 2 (although I did pick up the Wind's Edge Tessen and they've done VERY well in the mines for me) as well as Minors (Dragon Nunchucks have been a standard for my own use since I got them), so overall, this go round is simply to stash away minors and/or majors for later on after the event ends for sale or trade for other things I may want.

I'd be careful about drawing any conclusions based on small sample sizes like the one you list. Any Random Number Generator can be flakey when given small samples.

For example, I went an hour at first without a drop, then got another about 10-15 mins later. Given a large enough sample, it evens out.

I'd recommend to go to a place where your special character template is doing well. There you will get the best results.

By the way, when you turn in 10 minor artifacts, will you receive a random reward, or can you choose?

I too would recommend sticking with works best for you. Don't get discouraged or think your tactic is not working. It takes time to get drops. Make this event fun for yourself. You may even want to try new areas every so often just for the kicks.

It's not so much a RNG as it is a point accumulation system. Friday I played for about an hour and received 1 drop after the first 40 min. or so. Saturday morning I returned to the Dojo and received a drop after the 3rd kill. My points must have wrapped over from the day before. I then received another drop after about another 30 min.

By the way, when you turn in 10 minor artifacts, will you receive a random reward, or can you choose?
You will be given a menu screen where you can choose the greater you want.

I am averaging a drop about every 25-30 minutes, An AVERAGE!
I might go an hour and not get one then get 2 nearly back to back.
