Back when i played before, i used a rune beetle, and it killed people pretty easy, unless they ran away, people like to lure it away, then come back and kill me.

I am thinking greater dragons are nice, because they have over 120 wrestle cap, so they can actualy hit 120 players with DCI

Hiryus are nice casue 4 slots, so you can ride a mount, they also have dismount, and rend, and can have 108 max wrestle.

I tried frenzieds once, they kill people real fast, sometimes, problem is 100 cap, which is the same with most pets. Casters dont have a problem bombarding people with spells, but 100 wrestle pets probly have a hard time hitting people...

What kinds of pets do most tamers sue in pvp now adays?

greater drag for high wrestle, dragon breath, bleed, high survivability.

dread warhorse + kitsune for firebreath and two spellcasting pets.

2 kitsunes for two spellcasting pets and one spare control slot.

or you could get a pack of scorpions (poison) or hellhounds (firebreath) if you wanna be super cool.

I like the idea of scorpions, but im wondering a few things

does pack instinct affect poison?

and how many scorpions do you need to get poison regularly?

Im currently bonding 4 frost spiders and a scorpion, just to stand apart from the hell hound and ostard tamers

note that frost spiders only have slightly less damage (about 5 average damage per spider) than ostards, but have 20 more dex (140)

The best ive come up with is the rune beetle+bake kitsuen. I kinda feel like im cheating when I go out to the gate with these. They cast at like 6/10 and can target over 3 screens!. Its insta death hardley anyone lives when i set them on them and after a while i end up alone at the gate!.

In fact last time i brought them out there every one simply recalled away in disgust. I get flamed and harassed for doing it so ive stopped. :( Its realy not fair.

Because tamers will either run away and pet ball or log out/in to retreive pets before you kill them. That and Sampires aren't good for PvP.

If I were to PVP (unlikely, given my magnitude of suckiness when it comes to matching skills against other players), I'd bring a Rune Beetle and Bake Kitsune or 2 Bake Kitsunes and a mount.

Why?

Speed.

In theory (and this does seem to play out in just about every aspect i've looked at), higher dexterity NPCs move at faster speed. MUCH faster speed. Y'know those paragons moving at the speed of light? Look at their dexterity.

This brings us to examine what pets we can use. Bake Kitsunes top out around 150 dex, I believe, while a Rune Beetle can have it as high as 170. Both of these are significantly faster than the 125 max you'll see on most pets.

They have other benefits too, of course - Bakes are so fond of mana dumping, and Rune Beetles are just as capable in the spellcasting department. They're both nasty in melee, and target non-phys resists... your enemy better hope they have an all 70s suit. Beetles poison like the dickens, and reduce resists with their special move aside.

If i had any skill at all, even mediocre skills, I'd guess a Beetle/Bake combo kills extraordinarily fast, even against artifacted opponents. Don't even get me started on what happens to dismounted foes... they'd never escape!

bake/bake is also a decent setup, of course - not quite as potent in melee, but the casting might even be better (i swear, no one mana dumps like a bake mana dumps), and you have the added benefit of not... being... really... really... sloooooooooooow.

But when your running (chasing or running away) you have to wait for the pets to catch up...

Dread mares are the way to go nowadays.

My main lass is kitsune-less so she uses her trusty mare and runey, or anything she has with her mare. In fact the mare alone has more kills than all my other pets together, thanks to idiot PvPers thinking the 2 of us were easy pickings :D

Otherwise I love the 2 bakes while on a frenzy. I've seen them used to great effect by skilled PvPers on their tamer chars, if I was building a PvP tamer I'd use kits. Especially as it saves on taming skill points that can be employed elsewhere.

according to stratics

100 wrestle vs 120 skill with 45% dci = 29% chance to hit

thats the chance for most pets to hit a good pvper, 29%

thats why spell casters are good as well as high dex pets

rune beetles FTW
