What about an "Ideas Forum"?

So hear me out on this.

The Devs are always swamped and they of course hold meetings to figure out what to do next in the game. What if we could give them maybe a helping hand.

UHall is a great place full of great ideas, and of course it's a lot of time they need to spend reading through everything. So of course a lot of things go unseen.

What if when someone has an idea for the game (good or bad even) they polish the thoughts out in Uhall, then retype it all out and submit it to be posted in the Idea forum. So Devs can look there and see what us the players have been coming up with, plus they won't have to read 400 replies to see what's been going on with it.

Now the problem is that you can't vote on a locked thread, so I'm not sure how you would allow us to vote on them but keep the threads from getting swamped/trolled or what have you. The voting would be nice because it will show right away how other players feel about the idea. So Devs right off the bat will understand how it would possibly be welcomed by the players if added.

And maybe even offer up incentives to voice your ideas. Give props to the person if the Devs use the basic (doesn't have to be exact) idea of the poster. Or Heck, even maybe an EM item that's something fun like a robe that said: "Derium had his ideas stolen from the Devs!". This way players will want to get involved even more, and the Devs have a lot of ideas set out in front of them.

This goes beyond the "Ask the Devs" forum, because this is not asking about the game, it's just trying to lend a helping hand.

Let's face it, this is not the biggest MMO out there, and as such since it's a small Dev team, they might want our help

We had that on the old forum, too bad it got shut down and never remade. It was a pretty nice thing and several of the ideas made it into the game. (like custom housing and custom housing tiles)

As far as I know the person setting up the boards said there was no way to duplicate the way that worked on these boards. The old ones were ubb, these are vbulletin. - it's way outside my knowledge though.
Also, the devs at the time said they preferred that we post our ideas on UHall.

ahh, didn't know they wanted it this way. I just figured it was a pain for them

by the way, Petra. With the ideas we are kicking around in the other thread, should we form our own to talk about it?

The problem is that most ideas aren't read here because they drown in common posts or get discussed to pieces.

Its possible to duplicate in vBB, just takes quite a bit of effort, Mith didn't want to do it because he didn't find it worth his time to devote a lot of time to it.

Honestly, if they preferred just Uhall, why have an "ask the devs" forum, they could just as well answer them here. What you can do better on vBB is to have the ideas forum as a subforum and hence more noticable by players and devs alike.

I'd guess because:
1.) When if comes to ideas, a discussion on the subject will give a little insight into what the players think about it.
2.) When it comes to questions players have for the Devs, it's easier for them not to have to sift through a discussion.
When it's an idea the players are supplying, player input is more important. When it's a question the devs need to answer, it doesn't even remotely matter what the players think, because the answer already exists.

Different time frame, different staff. These boards were set up in 2008, the ask the devs forum has only been up a few months.
I'm too sleepy to think on this any deeper right now.
