What about a bug tracker?

Actually UHall is became UOBugsHall....
A bug tracker is necessary, or just a simple forum with the following features:
- Post bugs and never shown until devs/moderator mark it
- Marks:
* Confirmed: the bug has been added to the official TODO list of the devs. More details can be added by users (if requested) but no comments about it.
* Cheat/Exploit: in this case the post will be not visible to the users.
* Not Replicable: a moderator/dev has tested it and is unable to replicate it or simply there are not enough details. More details can be added by users but no comments about it.
* Not a Bug: it's not a bug and the thread is closed.
* Fixed: the bug has been fixed and the thread is closed.

Adding this tool/forum could help the devs not only on collect bug reports, but to get more details and reduce the PM that they have to read about bugs... and their work on this forum will be minimal since the moderators will be able to do great part of it :p

Seems like a good idea. Only problem I see is that running/managing/maintenance this system may divert some attention/resources from actually fixing bugs. Still, it seems promising.

No need for them to re-invent the wheel. Home :: Bugzilla :: bugzilla.org (Besides, what kind of large project DOESNT have some sort of bug tracker, i would actually be a little surprised if they didn't have one for internal use already...well...I take that back...this is EA we're talking about)

yes, do exist, but we need one where some people can manage it and the devs just have little work to do in it: mark as TODO or FIXED.

I find important (or what is important to me at least) bugs get lost in a sea of OMG FIX THIS BUG NOW and it's something pathetic and usually trammel orientated.

PVP related bugs, where mass number of players will deactivate their accounts should be prioritised, remember when tracking was broken? EA must have lost a shed load of subscriptions and i doubt they even knew why cos it was lost in a literal sea of bugs about boats and saltpeter and mundane things like that.

Same story with magic arrow/netherbolt.

You would be the "we" & the "some people" ...

build the list and they will come ...

They had one for AOS(Here at stratics) ...
I don't recall that it was ever "completed" ... cleared ...
*shrugs*

Personally ... I do not doubt that the (actual coding)"Devs" have some sort of list, generated from the established channels (Feedback | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online)

*Shrugs*
Being here on the forums ... I would suggest:
Pick ONE bug ...
Make that the Highest Priority TO FIX NEXT ...

^Track that^
guage your results
THEN review your idea of a Master list

*double shoulder shrug*

something to do ... :danceb:

Me? The choice is not mine, the devs must recognize the place where the bugs should be posted, and they have to chose who manage it (like they do with EM, but without training).
We are speaking about a place where exploit will be posted so who manage it must be someone trusted by the devs, not a random person :p

well, the uoherald feedback page seems like a joke... I mean, you send something and never receive a message like "Your feedback has been sent, thanks!" or an automatic email message that says "Hello, this is an automatic message, your feedback has been sent. Thanks for your support."

Really, I stop using it after 2 times because I felt fooled :/

I thought that was what the top Sticky was for. Never went in there 'cause they only fix what They want to anyways, some could be there for Years

We did this on the EC forum (and the KR forum for that matter) but the post was never stickied.

Of course how effective it was is entirely up for debate, but it was at least looked at from time to time by the client devs.

I had it stickied at one time not sure how it came to be undone. I must have selected it also when I was releasing some threads and doing some clean up!

sorry, but a thread is a mess to read and not only for the devs.... unfortunately here on stratics it's all compressed in a thread like the guides, and this is very hard to read or search for something...

I agree with Pinco. A bugtracker would be very handy. I don"t care wether it is via some forums voodoo or something like bugzilla or mantis.

They devs surely have something like it for internal uses (I"d be shocked if they didn't) because the bug reports collected through the players need to be stord and sorted somewhere. Would be great i f the opened it up for players or maybe only some choosen players who filter it from the UOHall pulp.

Would be nice to get some feedback like pinco said, so you know your reporting has been recognized.
