Welp, after 25 years I finally had my first item go poof

I've heard the stories from others of items simply vanishing into thin air, but had never experienced it myself until yesterday.

Logged in to stock my vendor and adjust prices, and the first thing I went to do was lower the price on a black dye tub. The second I picked it up from the vendor's backpack it vanished.

Not in my pack, not under the house, not in the moving crate. It just disappeared.

The only thing that stands out as different than any other day was I had the popup message that an item had sold from an auction safe, but I didn't open or clear the gump. Not sure if that's what caused it.

Paged a GM, and instead of the canned 'FU we don't replace items' - I didn't even get a response, period.

Gotta love that customer service.

I tried that, and checked my bank box too. It really did just poof.

And it never even made the sound of picking something up. Vanished before that.

Yup. You played enough to know what could have happened so you checked.

I'm really sorry that happened to you. I've lost items here and there over the years due to glitches. I swear some of my lock downs have simply disappeared a few times.

Happened to items in my backpack a couple of times (2 times perhaps), especially when I was lagging. Could not find the item in the backpack (bag showed 0 items and using the container search function in the EC also showed it was not there), relogged but it was gone.

Next server restart it was back in the backpack where I put it. Really weird.

I thought that, but normally duped items can't be put on vendors in the first place (You get a message saying something about it being unvendorable). This was placed on my vendor and priced a week before just fine, I was only removing it so I could lower the price.

I lost a bod book of 499 large chainmail bods this past week. All I did was remove it from my vendor/holder to try to place in my backpack. I did not have enough room in my backpack so instead of getting the message you have no room and the book going back into the vendor automatically, it went POOF! Checked the floor, house storage, other vendors etc etc etc...called a GM and was told they are aware of a glitch with bod books and vendors and are working on a fix. Sorry but we cant replace the book of bods. OUCH.

I was a dummy and filled a BOD book with 500 carpentry BODs. No way to hold those...

It fell into the floor. Since carpentry BODs require too many special ingredients I just let it go poof.

I would have tried to get it back if it were any other profession.
