Well we know more about our future, but the part that still confuses me is what about UOSA , is it coming out or isnt it , it should be no secret , the game was being made last year , all interested gaming companies have been warned , so why is it we are still being fed. The usual EA/ UO spins:

Examples:

We have some great plans in the coming months. There are three major story arcs in the works culminating in what I can only describe for legal and marketing reasons as an “Epic Event” coming this Spring … Applying my First Rule of Molyneux, make that late Spring.

================================================

We are still actually discussing the plans for 2008. I am a huge procrastinator , but there is very little to add
RicTheHippy - now other than what was in my post. The next 5 months are on a tight schedule to get Mad Mage out and running,
RicTheHippy - bit of fun in the Spring and then the Epic Event in ... late Spring *wink* I'd be upset if this was all I keep hearing,
RicTheHippy - just know I read the boards ALL day long, so we're paying attention
RicTheHippy - will let you know more when the plans are concrete
Maledicta - Let me add that keeping the community informed is mine and Jeremy's top priority. It's something we constantly bring up and we will get the word out to you all as soon as we can.

==================================================

EA/ UO you start this new fresh start off by not using the words:

Soon , Marketing approval ,working on it , new few publishes, will let you know more when the plans are concrete ..

To bad we could just say we will pay you , when the plans are concrete

Well they do, but if they did, they'd have to kill themselves.

Yeah, when I asked that question I was hoping to get a little more info. Well actually, I was just hoping they would say "We're gonna do a proper State of UO by the end of February" or something along those lines.

What I want to know, outside of new Events, planned for the year:

1) Status of SA, maybe drop a couple more feature hints.
2) Status of KR (included new feature/interface/graphical plans, etc)?
3) Any system revamps planned (Combat, Crafting, PVP, Item Properties, etc)?
4) Any skill revamps planned (useless skills revamped, new skills added, etc)?
5) Any plans for playstyle revamps (Thiefs, Treasure Hunters, Pirates, etc)?
6) Update on anti-cheating systems since Punkbuster was a bust?

Don't tell us that you will procrastinate, or that you are procrastinating... that sounds pretty bad, actually.

He does at least say they will let us know when they have their plans ironed out for 2008... which hopefully we'll still be in the first quarter of 2008 at that point, otherwise, please go ahead and plan for 2009 while you're at it.

Red items concern me most:

1.

I am a huge procrastinator

[/ QUOTE ] : I would be fired if I told that to my bosses , investors..

2.

The next 5 months are on a tight schedule

[/ QUOTE ] : From our ( UO players) verson of this could mean ALOT is getingdone or basically nothing is getting done....

3.

[/ QUOTE ] : Didnt Darkscribe tell us this same thing , last year??

We need meat not mashed potatoes..

It's going to happen this year IMO, but I really fear it is going to be majorly bugged and frustrating to play.

Our short-term focus is the live side of things - bug and exploit fixes, live events, that sort of thing. We'll have more info on the bigger-picture stuff eventually, but there is a ton of detail work we're still sorting out - we'd rather not be in another situation where we announce something and a year later don't have any more info :p

[/ QUOTE ]Thank you very very much for the honesty. It may mean a small initial dissapointment, but the respect that is gained is far more valuable. You guys make it right and I for one will patiently wait. Well maybe not patiently.

I bet that Draconi will come out of his cubicle and see his shadow, forcing the event back six more weeks.

While the game is getting some fixes and improvements, there is still lack.

I am glad they are trying to fix crafting and putting live events on.

But in reality, that is just filler.

This game was about a new client and the new expansion; which neither of them are up for discussion, unfortunately.

Till we hear about SA this game will still be on life support.

What amazes me most is how people soon forget these things when a little more pixel crack is added.

That is my point , enter UOKR, UOSA , now we are on to ( much needed fixes) ,but just fillers and sadly excuses...

My question as someone put it earlier , if the Dev's dont know whats coming up , then we REALLY have a problem..

That is the way I feel too.

Kinda sad when there "is no plan to mention."

As for me, and I hope others also; no activating accounts till some real news.

I don't want sound like a whiner, but it does bug me a little bit that out of all the MMOs I've played (and I've played way too many, lemme tell ya), UO is the *only* one that's so secretive about upcoming plans.

But hey, I guess that makes it even more unique!

I think you should rephrase that, that there are really few games that have so little planning.

We went from we plan 2-3 publishes ahead which was at best to 6 months, to we don't really know what will make it in the next publish 2-3 months at best.

I would not mind much if those short time plans were actually good and thought out well, but they are half baked too often.

Good that they are working on bugs and such now, except we're not seeing results from their work. Things like the recall bug and the rubberbanding while running bug should have been fixed within a week of their happening. That they haven't been fixed yet shows me quite a few things:

1) EA has very few staff working on UO right now.
2) The staff that exists is incompetent and doesn't know how to fix these issues.
3) EA again shows it's customers that they don't care about them.

As for live events... the scavenger hunt? I won't even comment on that one. But EA has a track record for starting events and never finishing them anyway, so anytime I hear about EA working on events, I don't get my hopes up. Unless the plan is to bring back seers, which let's face it, won't happen, to run the events and let the devs and GMs do their jobs while the seer worries about the event doing.

The bottom line is that we need to know where the company stands with UO. As paying customers, we have the right to demand this. We need to know what is being worked on and an estimate of when it's going to be released, whether it be bugs without specifics, yet a long list, or details without information on some event coming up. Just so we know the devs aren't sitting there twiddling thumbs. Hell, it was said fixes are being made and not long before or after, they said factions aren't being fixed. So what exactly is being worked on?

How long until EA announces it's merging UO shards and will be free to play like they just did with The Sims Online? Face it, there is no way current UO can compete with new games like Darkfall, Conan, and Warhammer.
