may sound dumb but,when im shopping for weapons on vendors i see a requires exspansion or somthing ,,,what exspansioin are the talking about?

For example, High Sea or Stygian Abyss. It's an addon you can buy from EA (~$10).

Many of the weapons from Shame have that designation. I guess they are encouraging you to get the expansion if you don't allready have it

It depends on what mods are on the item. If the mod was introduced with Stygian Abyss then you need SA to equip it. (Various eaters/blood drinker/shatter etc.)
