Hi,

I am also trying to get my character together to face dread horn.

Would this weapon work:

Axe
Hit Stamina Leech 34%
Hit Mana Leech 45%
Hit Lower Defense 32%
Hit Life Leech 33%
Swing Speed Increase 30%
Physical Damage 100%

Seems like a dream weapon to me, the only slight issue being that it is an Axe? I dont know if the base damage is high enough or whatever?

Would an elven machette be better than an 'Axe'?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Try to max out your Dam Inc. to 100% if you can, as the more damage you do, the faster it dies and the more mana/life/stamina that you leech.

Common items that give are Dam Inc bonus are Ornate Crown of Harrower, Primer of Arms Damage Removal, Stormgrips, Gauntlets of Nobility and jewelry.

hehe.. Thanks for the tip but you didn't really touch on the question.

In terms of solo'ing dread, is this weapon what I need or should i try and find something with a higher base damage or one handed to chug pots?

Cheers,

The weapon is fine. The dps is about the same as a diamond mace, which is very well regarded. Just focus on the healing/curing types that don't involve potions.

I think he did address the question. If your averaging 40 damage a hit, how much are you leeching? If your getting 30% back on that 40 point hit your only getting 12 HP's or Mana leeched back to you.

Now use a weapon thats doing 120 point hits. That same 30% leech is getting you 36 points leeched each hit.

Thats a huge difference.

Thats why finding a big hitter is better then a light, fast hitter when your depending on leech. The trick is finding the biggest, FASTEST hitter you can.

I don't know if you are vamp or not, or the rest of your suit. But that axe looks good.

Why do people use elven machette though?

To be honest with you mate, i was asking a question regarding my axe which wasn't addressed. I am very familier with how leeches work and damage increase to boot. What i wasn't sure about was the validity of this particular variety of axe, in the context of facing Dread Horn.

But the other posters have given the impression that it will do fine, so i shall purchase the axe now and give it a bash....

Thanks,
Nick

try gauntlets of nobility, the reisists are diff than storm's and they have 20 dmg inc, and i believe + 8 str as well.

If you fail to kill DH the first time, don't despair. It's not the weapon - people kill DH routinely with diamond maces with similar or even inferior stats -- and a diamond mace is just about the exact same thing.

Of course an ornate would be best, but finding one with those stats or better would run you 500mil or something, I know I would not consider parting with mine for any less than that -- try finding one, won't happen.

I'm sure you got a bargain.

Weekend has come to an end, did you get a chance to try out that axe vs DH?
