It's been about 10 years since I played UO, I played the original release before alot of the newer skills. I had a fun character that was pretty good at soloing. His skill were nearly 100 for the following
Sword
Heal
resist magic
music
provo
anatomy
i dont remember the last one
With all the new skills, is something like this still viable or should I go a different route.

Yeah, it's viable. You'll probably want to aim for something like
120 music
120 provo
120 weapon
100 tactics
90 anat
90 heal
80 chiv

You can use +skills on jewelry to get there and/or take it higher. It's not an uber character in the sense that you won't be able to solo everything in game, but you can have quite a bit of fun with it. Note that I recommended removing magic resist. The benefit of resist is that it lessens the impact of curses, poison, mana drain, and paralyze. It's not there for damage reduction prevention/reduction anymore.

I might consider dropping the healing and lowering the anatomy for necro so that you can use vamp form to leech (you will need at least 99 necro for that to be effective.) The tactics is also necessary to do specials, but other then that what you have is a viable temp and not a bad idea. Also the ability to swap prov out for disco with soul stones would be nice if you have an extra stone for that.

Ok, It looks like chiv and necro are similar (again, I have not played this in over 10 years and neither necro or chiv were around), do I need both or can i use necro instead or chiv and keep healing? Thanks again for the imput..great stuff

Hi Conaver,
Depending what and where you are planing on hunting; Switching provocation for Discord may be beneficial for 1 on 1 encounters.

Necro and chiv aren't really similar. Both would be beneficial. See the necro you will be using exclusively for vampire form which gives you 100% hit life leech. This means that your going to get some health back every time you hit. While chiv does have healing and curative spells it will mostly be covering you as a damage booster. By using consecrate weapon you will (at 85) hit the monster lowest resist. Divine fury you can use to give stamina boosts and increase your damage and swing speed at the cost of your defense. Close wounds and cleanse by fire will heal and cure you respectively. Enemy of One will allow you to do more damage to one type of monster at the cost of lowering your defense against others. Noble sacrifice will allow you to rez and scared journey will allow you to recall. Then there is Holy Light which is an area effect damage spell. Your necro would need to be 99 but your chiv only needs to go up to around 85 or so. You do get benefits from taking it higher but that will not be a big enough difference on a temp this crowded to justify it.

I play my sampire a lot for pvm, but don't think every character needs to be one. Putting 240 points into bardic skills makes me think the character should not be a traditional tank. I'd probably advocate replacing healing/anat with 100 necro/100 ss only if you're going to actively use necro. You could then use animate dead, curse weapon, etc. That would probably be a more fun bard, but your chivalry wouldn't be as effective.

The reason I suggested leeching is it gives him a wider array. It would only take adding on one skill necro and will avoid him having to fight for higher dex to make his healing effective. Sampires aren't the only game in town its true but they are the easiest and if your not looking for the damage cap it really only take 99 points. I think mana will be an issue if you go with a warrior necro bard. But if your looking to go as a dexxer bard not having to worry about healing should make life easier. Chiv is pretty much standard on any pvm temp and while its not required it sure makes life easier.
