WARNING - Nasty bug!

Two people, one on LS and one on Drachenfels, have tried to convert the Quiver of Infinity to gargoyle wing armour. In each case, the wing armour appeared in the char's backpack briefly and then vanished. Logging out and in didn't fix it.

Be careful out there!

Be cool if someone edited the bug thread to list a table of contents or something so you could just read first post and be up to date. I'm sure people don't look to read the bug thread until they get hit by one, heh. Just the way it is though.

I do read every thread involving bugs before I do something in game. This means that I sometimes don't play for days with all of that reading, but it really is better to be safe than sorry.

There should be an easier way to actually track bugs so that those who don't want to waste this kind of time can be more informed. It also seems no one really cares about bugs, because they don't acknowledge them unless hundreds post about it or it has something to do with fishing quest like all there is to do in the game is fishing. It would be nice, even if they don't fix the bugs for years, ACKNOWLEDGE THEM!

Claim that you were standing in magincia when it happened and they will upload an entire shard backup to test and give you your item back.

I was thinking that someone told me at one time or another that you need to have an arrow in the quiver for it to work.... but I'm not sure.

I would hate to risk it anyway.

I'd try it on test.

If your on GL's I think I have a spare set of that pre-made before the bug ruined them. Just give me a holler if your on GL's and it's yours.

I converted a Quiver of Infinity to garg wing armor about a month ago. I had no problems. I did not put it in a trade window. It went from my tailor direct into a secure chest. And then the gargoyle pulled it from the chest direct to his paperdoll. Seems very hit or miss. I'm sorry you lost your quiver.

I did it on Europa. I still have a few more Heritage tokens but I don't feel like burning them all to help debugging knowing they won't be replaced

The altered wing armor vanished about 4 or 5 seconds after the conversion while I had put it in a secure chest, so there may be some trick to avoid the bug, like locking it down, or sending it to bank through bag of sending, but again I don't feel like burning all my stuff to test. Maybe after server stops saving during maintenance if I can manage to be online at that time.

Note that I tried on Test Center before and had no issue, so I don't know what exactly causes the bug.

Now of course I'm annoyed to have lost my quiver, but what annoys me even more is that this bug had been reported months before and apparently nothing has been done to fix it.

Perhaps ..... and this is just my guess... that like you they don't know how or why it happens just that it does..... and perhaps they are testing it trying to figure out what is wrong... but unlike us they have unlimited resources to test. However since they stink at communication and have failed time and again to communicate with players they merely haven't said that for the time being perhaps it is unwise to try to convert the item and until they fix the bug we are on our own at hit and miss on it.

But that would once again require a representative of EA/UO to actually do something like.. make a post here or put in a line on the start up menu or some such non-sense that we all know is such a rarity we all come here 30 times a day to catch a glimpse of.... but are always strangely disappointed but we just don't know why.... and I'm rambling again....

Anyway it would require someone to take 2 min out of their day and post something about it and well they just don't have 2 min to give to you.

Things I did differently this time, one of which must have avoided the bug:

- The Quiver was dyed (not during previous attempt)
- The altered Wing Armor was kept "on hold" on my mouse for over 10 seconds before I dropped it on the ground and I immediately locked it down (for previous attempt it was in my pack)
- The Quiver was the only one I had on me during the alteration process (for previous attempt I was actually wearing another Quiver of Infinity)
All I can advise is, until the devs take that issue seriously, to do exactly what I did the second time.

useless, last time I did a similar process, the quiver seems successfully converted, but when I tried to drag it ... POOF!
