As per this thread, please don't buy any pets in unusual colours - as in colours that you wouldn't normally expect that creature to spawn. Red, green and shadow have been mentioned, but I'd extend that warning to include any unexpected critters.
Please don't discuss or reveal details of how this has happened, I just want you all to be aware that some folks may try trading dodgy pets.
Don't touch these with a 40ft bargepole however much you want the colour. They may well go poof or get re-coloured in future.
