Hi there,

I have tried to do a little research on the new expansion, it seemed a little confusing to me. At least the information I tried to extract on this site, I was wondering a few things from the players point of view.

Haven't really played in almost 2 years now and am just wondering whats the popular thing going on in uo, champ spawns, peerless bosses, doom? Is it necessary to get the new expansion to play and has it been a good addition to the game and if those new graphics are mandatory/recommended, I know thats mostly an opinion question but I'm just firing some questions.

I don't want to make a post saying tell me everything about uo, write me a story was just wondering those things and if I would be able to pick up the new stuff on my own if I were to get the expansion or if there is a good site I should look at on that topic.

Any information you guys can provide would really help me out, I just want to come back and enjoy myself again :)

the new dungoen and peerless areas are really good, and the imbuing skill which allows you to put things like lower mana cost on your armor pieces is nice though there are tradeoffs. if you want to go to the new dungeon and areas yes you need the expansion. no you do not need the new enhanced client, if you come back your 2D cleint (now called classic client) will patch up, but it will take sometime if you are not on a fast connection.

As far as what is popular thing to do, well that depends on your shard that you played on, it varies. Seen many people in the new areas but still see people at peerless at least on Lake Superior. I have been playing since near the launch of UO and personally this is the best expansion that has been released.

Thanks for the input! Is the new client being better received than the 3d client at least???????

there are supporters and detractors. I'd suggest trying it (Enhanced Client - EC) as well as the 2D (Classic Client or CC). Big thing on the EC is that it can be skinned, incorporates much of some UOA aspects (craft multiple for one), game window can fit larger than 1024x768 and more. There's a separate EC Forum here as well.

I beta'd it and tho I like much in it, the graphics do irritate my eyes agter a bit and don't seem as "crisp" as the CC. But that's just me. Different interface structure as well. It is still somewhat buggy, but then there are niggling issues in the CC as well.

The CC will also allow crafting multiples of an item too. Works decently and has eliminated UOA for me in that aspect.

Give them both a shot ... the EC is a very large download and both will require decent amount of patching.

Good luck - let us know what shard you decide on making your home!

Thanks!

I imagine I will be back on Great Lakes using my old account.

There a decent website I can read up on imbueing and such things or is stratics basically the limit on that

There's not really a reliable site for imbuing - best bet is to check the Craftsman forum here.

Ever since the release of SA, there have been multiple rebalance passes on the skill, so that information has changed several times over.

Some things that were not possible before now are, and vice-versa, so it's best to look for the discussions of the most recent updates in that regard. (it was also made easier to train as of last publish)
