The early purchase "imprisoned in a crystal" vollem is just like the dog, or the squirrel... anyone can own, cannot transfer it or it goes *poof*

Just made my first tinker crafted vollem tonight and I gotta tell ya, I think this little blighter is going to be my miner's new best friend. Fresh made, took it out to beat on a couple of ettins, and they barely left a scratch on it.

Oh yeah - and the crafted ones seem identical in stats/skills to the "imprisoned" variety :D

i guess the question is, can ya bond them?

im assuming that the crystal ones come bonded like the prox dragon, or maybe they dont?

i havnt cracked mine out yet.

but my main question is can the tinker made ones be bonded?
cause if not then there is no point in training them, eh?

That's what I'm waiting for, too. I'll let y'all know about the tinker ones next week. If they do I'm SO giving one to my fisherwoman - much easier than constantly casting a fire elemental :p

The crystal ones come out bonded, yes.

Hmm... Kinda hoping they don't bond.

Mainly because I feel its rediculous that none tamers can run around with a pet the equivalent in stats/resist/skills of a nightmare. . .

Does anyone know whether the promo vollum transferable? I understand that, once it is released, it insta-bonds. If transfered, can it bond to the new toon?

From 5 on Friday

I got Stygian Abyss and after using the promotional code I have recieved amongst other things "a vollem held in crystal." Without wasting this one time use, what does it do please?

Ah! This is your special gargoyle pet, a Vollem. This pet insta-bonds to you once you release it from the crystal, and otherwise acts like a normal pet. The reason this is special is that the only other way to obtain Vollems in the game is to complete the Sutek mini-quests and craft a golem version (which has to be repaired, and can’t be bonded).

Only one that will bond is the Promo one. Here is my question Lore & Vet to heal the one from Promotion? or do you need Tinkering? I only have one so I want to make sure I put it on the right character. If its tinkering I`m going to make a Technomancer(Tinker) or if its Vet & Lore its going to my tamer or a newbie tamer.

Yes Mage heals, and vet works. Anyone with high enough Vet can rez them and they are tough little beasties.

I made a vollem pet on day two. It will eat but doesn't bond.

Here is the Five on Friday from last week concerning them.

I got Stygian Abyss and after using the promotional code I have recieved amongst other things "a vollem held in crystal." Without wasting this one time use, what does it do please?

since tinker craftable pets are pretty much one-shots--meaning they're good until they die or you log off--they ought to be much easier to make. actually, other than the golem which people use for training, i don't see much use at all for the pets. sad...... :<

Depends what you do with your crafter - I managed to get Melissa's cloak on mine, despite having next to no combat skill, thanks to tinkered golems :)

if the devs didnt have mules so much, theyd let us bond golems or these new tinker made pets so we could train them up, that way we could defend ourselves and play in fel more.

of course wed have to be able to bond them to do that.

There is an alternative to bonding ....

Like in the original days (as far as I can tell using Nightmares, Dragons and White Wyrms), they can bring them in almost if not completely trained.

It was one of the components / aspects of the original Tamer, you lost the pet, you trained a new one. The difference was you didn't need to spend a lot of time training up the pet. It came in pretty close, if not fully trained.

Well I went ahead claimed the Vollan on my Mage+Necro+Weaver.

I noticed it needed to be trained.

So I started the process of training. I started off with the Spell Binders.

I had my Tamer from the other account rounding up the Spell Binders.

I noticed the Vollan going to Extremely Happy then back to Wonderfully Happy.

Considering this is the first promotional summoned pet I have had, is this thing going to go through the loyalty stages and then go wild/poof?

I can tell the Magery and EvalInt are going to be a pita like the NightMare/Dread are and for the same reason.

Addendum:

I got the Resist Spells to 100 and the Dex to 115 so I decided to go play the Combo. I am pleased, indeed I am.

I charmed an Ogre Lord and the two of them pretty much rapidly dispatched most things I would go after with just the Ogre Lord.

On its own with a Gift of Renewal and a few Greater Heals, well and a Bless He took down Ogre Lords. The Titans and the Warriors were fairly straight forward.

Using just the Vollem, The Yamotsu (sp) Warriors and their Elemental buddies were fairly straight forward as well.

Tomorrow I will use him with some Natures Furies and see how that works.

Well, the Training continues and I tried it with Natures Furies and the Fey. Both worked well enough but not as fast/efficient as the Ogre Lord.

I also tried it with the Animate Dead, I had 3 Flesh Golems animated helping the Vollem. I should have done that with the Ogre Lord Charmed combination.

can someone post the stats of vollum?
I can post the starting stats of mine, at least :

Stats :

Strength 509
Dexterity 102
Intelligence 112

Hits 303
Stamina 102
Mana 112

Resistances :

Physical 64%
Fire 33%
Cold 40%
Poison 37%
Energy 21%

Damage :

Physical 40%
Fire 40%
Energy 20%
16-22

Combat ratings :

Wrestling 86.1
Tactics 99.1
Resisting Spells 88.9
Anatomy 25.2

Lore & Knowledge :

Magery 39
Evaluating Intelligence 28
Meditation 28.9

Food : Meat, no pack instinct, 2 control slots.

I have trained it quite a bit since then(killing Poison Elems in Shame ...), mine is now at 5 GMs (still working on Magery and Resisting Spells) and 125 INT and Dex, munches those Poison Elems in a few seconds and works nicely in a combo with a Nightmare or a Bake Kitsune ... tough little bugger.
