Virtue Question(s)

Hi,
I am usually trying to get all (available) virtues to knight on all of my fighting chars (exept for justice since i dont PvP at all).

Now I know you get a message for valor and compassion when you cant raise the virtue any further.
But I have never gotten the message for sacrifice or honor. Could someone tell me whether there is a limit on them?

Also which of the virtues decay with time and which are only lowered through active usage?

I've never ran up Sacrifice much past getting TO Knight - so no idea if it actually caps somewhere. Still, anything that adds more to keep the decay bug from dropping you to follower at an inopportune time is something worth doing.

Honor I've only gotten to knight twice, and about had to use it almost immediately.

About Honor: its rather easy to get to knight with a tamer. I just havent found a use for this virtue tbh (i mean to use it actively). The only time i ever use it is when I am taking another try to solo Mel with my tamer and I am having a hard time to lure the satyrs. But thats about it.

Available Virtues
Valor, Honor, Compassion, Justice, Sacrifice.
All decay over time except honor. Honor is the only one that decays with usage.
Never reached a cap with Honor, Sacrifice or Justice. I assume they are like karma and fame no limit but when you die they drop more, seems honor drops a lot at knight when used, and the others decay faster.

Honor on a tamer is great if your trying to tame an animal that hits hard like a greater dragon. Just honor yourself then run up to it and you can spam tame until your honor runs out or you have it tamed. It will not attack you. It actually takes longer for a tamer to gain knight of honor than it does a melee char due gaining less honor if you use pets, and you will gain even slower if using a rune beetle because of the poison.

Usually for all the virtues except Honor, you will lose about a bubble a week.
Compassion takes a while since your limited to only 5 NPC escorts per 24 hours.
You can only Sacrifice your fame once every 24 hours.
No limit on how fast you can gain in Valor - Should be able to get to knight by doing one champ spawn.
No limit on how fast you can gain in Justice other than there is a short period of time you must wait before gaining again, and the time increase at each level but the time span is pretty short like 2-3 on first level, 5-6 on second, and 7-8 on the last.
No limit on how fast you can gain on Honor, except it is based of the fame level of the monster your killing so only certain monsters will get you to knight.

There's an alternate, though slower, source of sacrifice.

You can do the Witch's Apprentice/Griselda the Hag quest, and completing it 3 times will typically get you a bubble of Sacrifice at any level of skill. This can be done multiple times a day; the only limitations are a 5-minute cooldown timer from the end of one quest to being able to take it again, and that 1/3 of the time, you will get "Star Map" as the 3rd ingredient, and you can only get those by using a spyglass between 5 PM & 5 AM in-game time (1 hour out of every 2, real world time). So, if you get a request for the map, you either have to wait up to an hour, or abandon the quest and restart from square 1 (I personally wait - after all, you can go do compassion escorts while waiting, or go kill things for valor or honor).

Wasn't there also 1 way to get sacrifice by using a plague beast mutation core (plus a couple of things I can't remember) to run the water purification contraption in the solen hives?

yeah - plague beast mutation core, a piece of obsidian from Elwood, and moonfire brew from Griselda....

Never had a mutation core handy to try it out to see if it still works though.

In my experience,

Justice, capped and decays at about 1gem per week.
Compassions, as above.
Sacrafice, never noticed a cap decay rates the same.
Honor, never noticed a cap or decay.
Valour, capped and decays 1per week(i think i never had it drop though apart from challenging the spawns.)
