What is a Veteran?

A Veteran is a soldier, who's heart is brave and true, he fillingly fights the enemy just for me and you. He asks for very little and sometimes gives up his life, to save his country and our way of life. He chose to protect our country willingly, without fear of what might unfold, he fights the biggest battles for one ultimate goal. He fights for freedom, he fights for his home, he fights so that all can prosper from what our country holds. A Veteran is Our Country's greatest asset, and the nation's biggest fan. We honor all Our Veterans, God Bless them to the end.

After my parents passed away, I raced up to Ohio to make sure I got those mementos of my father's diary during his time thru WW2, Pacific Theatre.

The pages are tattered, some torn, other pages faded over the decades, but to me that was the most important thing to retrieve from my father's stuffs.

His triangle folded flag, in a glass case went to my daughter whom is still active going nearly 20 yrs now in the USN. Our son is a submarine vet.

Seems my entire family over the generations are Veterans. But my father is the one I hold closest to my heart. . serving in WW2 and the tattered pages of his army days diary is still in my possession.

Today our men and women fight wars that are unclear. The life and death happens on the fields, the war is "fought" behind closed doors.

Whatever your beliefs are. No matter the politics involved... The women and men that serve our nations do so to protect all the freedoms we enjoy. Notice there is no politician day, except election day...

That being said... leave politics out of this. (yes it had to be said... I have seen dozens of these threads.)
