Veteran player returning after 5 year hiatus -- HELP!

I need a bit of help, in more than one way I'm sure. I'm interested in seeing if I still like/have time for UO after so long away. I played on Great Lakes from around beta when I was in middle school/high school and stopped in 2005. I restarted my account, my characters are still there, and I'm intrigued enough to find out a little more.

Basically, I want to know if my main, a healer/archer that was a PvP beast back in the day, can still compete. I'd like to know if there's a server with an active light-RP/warring guild community. Great Lakes seemed pretty empty when I signed on...do I need to port my characters over to Atlantic? Anyone who thinks they'd have time, at some point, to introduce me to some of the changes would be greatly appreciated. Any advice at all would be most welcome.

I recently started playing on Atlantic and find that there are many helpful players. The population on Atlantic is also one of the largest--good for people to play with, but housing is at a premium. Although, there are still quite a few small house plots open to place.

I also play on Lake Austin which is not as populated, but lots of awesome people that do play there and lots of open land to place an 18X18 or a Keep.

If you decide to play on either of these servers, I will be more than happy to help you get started.

Welcome back!

GL has a decent sized population and a good community so you don't have to think about moving anywhere to become active and find people to play with.

Check out the "Warriors" section for the more up-to-date style archer pvp builds, things have changed.

Good luck!
