Vesper Museum - Was there a bug?

Hi there! (Maybe this isn't the correct forum, but I think UO Rare collectors will know more than the rest of the community!)

I've recently returned to ultima online after a 4.5 year break, and already falling in love again


I was looking at all the new features in the expansions and I saw that you can donate to three different 'collection' agencies and aquire items with the points you get.

So I promptly had a look at what was involved and what it cost.

Vesper Museum's Spellbook of Clanin(or whatever it is) looked nice! So I see it costs 800,000 points, meaning roughly 12million gp.. since I don't have this kind of gold I skipped it, only to discover that many shops around Luna (on Atlantic) are selling the exact same book for 1.6million gp ???

How is this possible? Did they dupe the item? Was there a bug?

They likely turned in resources to get those rewards. Resources are easy to gather and turn in for vesper points.

Frostwood gives you like 30 points or something. The number is not important.

People would script frostwood forever before the randomizing of resources.

They would turn in frostwood for all the items.

So its cheaper to buy them off a vendor.

You get 48 points for each frostwood board. Yeah, people used to script them. You can also turn in all the different kinds of boards (easier to get) for different level points. OP, check the 'donations' section to see what you can donate for what kind of points. It was great when I was building lumberjacking

check out the brit library, too. Theres lots of different kinds of stuff, that can sell pretty decent. The first one can be hard to get, but once you make a profit, you can recycle the profit into the things needed to get them. It's time consuming, but it'll get you there.

unfortunately at the brit library there are some of the glasses where paying the 12 mil is probably the best route to obtain the glasses... i mean how many people are going to turn in 66,667 chiv books to get the damn light of way reading glasses? however they arent the best of glasses, but i know some people like to have the whole set
