This evening marked the first Vesper Fishing Contest. The contest consisted of two parts: for the first part, fishers could fish up any weighted fish between the dates of 6/21 and 6/30 and the largest three fish won. Jonah took first place with a fish of 147 stones, Jesse was a close second with a fish of 141 stones, and Perdition came in third with a 73 stone fish.

For the second part, secrecy until the event began was necessary as the Maritime Guild was concerned about early fishers disrupting the aquatic ecosystem around Vesper. The Maritime Guild had brought a most troubling matter to my attention. The shores and canals of Vesper, long the home of many various fish and other aquatic life, seemed to be low on an important fish: the Vesper Reef Tiger! They requested that I, as governor of Vesper, help them to acquire mating pairs of Vesper Reef Tigers to study and breed with the goal of returning the population to normal levels. Unfortunately, as a tamer I was unable to directly assist, so I had to enlist the aid of the fishers of the realm.

I provided two fish bowls and a supply of nets to all the fishers who came to participate, and the first three to hand me back both bowls with Vesper Reef Tigers won. Capt Carlac was the first to provide two Reef Tigers, followed by Jesse in second place, then Casca in third.

The Maritime Guild has accepted the three pairs of Vesper Reef Tigers and is investigating the best and fastest way to breed them and introduce them back into the waterways. In time, our city fish will thrive again thanks to the help of all of those who came to help!

Thank you to everyone who came and made this event a success! Keep watching Vesper--there's plenty more to come from this wonderful city!
